    Hi,
    Just one more question, on my clone is it still possible to save and re-install the .cdf (channel order) file as it took me all night to rearrange them the other night.
    Or would you recommend against connection to my PC completely?
    Thanks!

    There are no boxes that can be used for Sly only their own proprietary box.

    With all these clone boxes flying around, i would have thought someone would have made a legal complaint against the cloners??
    Isnt there any trademark on these boxes?
    If not, im off to shenzen 2morrow.....lol

    I heard the new 2008 Max boxes are white??
    Are the clone boxes white aswell now?

    Im buying quite a few boxes, and dont want to buy clones. Any links or advice would be appreciated.

    Word of advice to all, Most clones come from Birmingham. So, if you are ebaying, check if its Bham, if it is, phone and ask. no warranty, no box is my rule...Birmingham is clone city, so be careful...
    I would have thought under a court of law, the seller would be liable to blame.

    thanks,

    RedEyeZ

    @wacks

    OK it was corrupt maybe due to the amount of times it was downloaded. I have deleted it from Eamos FTA Library and put in a fresh version, checked it and it downloads fine.

    I have noted that it asks you to use Kuro Beta 1 in the guide, latest version of firmware is Kuro Beta 2 which you will find here http://www.4shared.com/file/2838073..._MaxV_Kuro_BETA2.html?dirPwdVerified=3715b75e

    Sorry but some files get worn out after time, bit like myself :)

    The genuine Max V is now in a white packaging. The internal of a clone is different to a genuine box, with the usual tell tale signs. BTW China & copyright dont go together hence why they are been manufactured there and not just one city is clone city, although I do know who you are speaking of.

    Yes my cloned box came in a white box.
    The writting on the front of the box says, digital satelite receiver under the clock and EurovoxMaxV on the upper right hand corner. I beleive this is what the first gen Max V's looked like and came in black boxes.
    New ones in White should have MaxV under the clock ans just Eurovox in Upper right I believe.
    So if you get a new Eurovox in a white box and it say's Digital Satelite Receiver under the clock! Possibly/probably a clone!

    Yep, This is the box it came in is identical to this one;

    http://i21.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/d0/f4/626c_1.JPG

    (the box pictured has MaxV under the clock, the one inside did not, as per above it had digital satelite receiver there, like this;

    http://www.cablesatellite.co.uk/images/eurovoxmaxvproduct2009.jpg)

    I have also noticed a diff type of box like this one;

    http://www.cablesatellite.co.uk/images/eurovox-box2.jpg

    (this box was actually pictured on the site I bought from, but as above the box I received was the top one)

    Hmm must be putting clones in white boxes now, just makes it harder to tell unless you can visually inspect them before purchase, which 99% of people cant as they buy online.

    Pain in the rear but lets just say I am sure the manufactuers have something planned.

    lol, Yikes, doesn't sound good for me!

    I think I'll be left with a brick eventually, probably sooner rather than later.
    I didn't realise when purchasing that there were so may clones, and that they were not updatable.
    I'll make sure I get a gen one next time and pay £20 extra if need be, better than paying £100+ again.

    Which I've a feeling is what I'll be doing this time.
    Hopefully I'll get 6 month out of it, and the sting won't be as sharp then.lol
    Am I being massively optimistic there do you think?

    Not at all you should get that and longer if you keep the same firmware as you have at the moment, although its all dependent on if there is a CC, (cable company), change and you require a fix, but just lets say thats another story and enjoy what you have for now.

    Other things with a clone are the use of cheaper capacitors with lower rating, check the C14 cap on your PSU board and see what it says on it. Although they are easy and cheap to replace yourself if there is a problem with one in the future.

    Sorry have to head off for a while, but as said just enjoy for now :)

    From what I've found out you need to check if your euro looks like this;

    http://boogily.eu/cablereceiverbox.com/images/voxbox_big.jpg

    then you may have problems!

    The one pictured above is a 1st gen max V that came in a black box, probably none left to buy (new) now, and if it comes in a white box like this;

    http://www.dvbjunkieuk.com/images/uploads/max_white2.jpg

    You need to check carefully!
    If however it looks the same as the one pictured on the box, I think you'll be OK, at the moment clones look like the top pic(1st generation Max V's)

    If you're in doubt and want to be sure, look inside, if there's red paint on the screws, and multi-single-stranded cable (twisted) rather than flat neat ribbon cable you have a clone, do not try to update with new firmware!

    (PLEASE NOTE, AM NOT IN ANY WAY IMPLYING THE PLACES I HAVE GOT THE PICTURES FROM IN THIS POST SUPPLY CLONE BOXES)

    I am just using the pictures to show my point, likely the picture is an old genuine box, just if you get one like this new in a white box!! Note, the one pictured on the new box is different? You should expect to find an identical item inside I think.

    You can edit it yourself, though not delete. Go to the post you want to edit and click on the notepad top right of the post.
