Hi I recently got my hands on the "EuroVox Max V". Based on the outskirts of Galway. Read all the threads on how to setup before I began. Basically followed these steps; 1. Did a clear channel 2. Did Powerscan on freq 290 - 403 with symbol rate 6.887. The scan found about 74 channels - named them all and saved them to memory. However when I scroll through the channels only the most obscure ones have a signal like Discovery KN and Eurosport. RTE 2 comes through but not RTE1. The majority of other channels, even though they show a signal strength of 78 - 80% I get nothing but a blank screen. Any ideas - has it got to do with the software on the box itself ? Appreciate any pointers.
Thats the scan for N** cable in Dublin, thats why you are missing channels are you on cable or MMDS, (aerial on your roof)?
Hi sc0user I'm on N*L MMDS - saw other posts where the symbol rate should be 6952 but when I enter that for freq 290 - 403 the signal strength is less than 20 % and in the red.
No that is not the correct symbol rate 6887 is try adding these manually altough a scan from 250.000 should work: 250.000 266.000 282.000 298.000 314.000 330.000 346.000 363.000 378.000
thanks I'll try that tmrw and post back to let you know how I got on, can't interview the tv viewing at the moment..
thanks for that sc0user, can confirm that the new frequencies worked a treat and am now getting 90+ channels.
Hi I recently bought the Eurovox MAX and had NT* MMDS and it works fine for me. A friend who works with me lives near Turloughmore in Galway and asked me to bring the box out. The NT* Box he has is different than the NT* box I have. It says NT* on the front it's silver like mine and has the NTL card in the back scart connection and just one cable connection. It's a cable that you screw in as opposed to just plugging the 2 cables into my one and it is 2-3 times bigger than mine. He said he got the box 18 months ago and has an aerial on the roof. Does anybody know what I am talking about? Is there a box that can be used for this service. He has subscribed to Setanta and seems digital to me. Thanks
Hey Lads. I too am a Galway lad thinking of getting in the Eurovox Max to work on an Existing NTL MMDS aerial already in place on my house. The thing is I do not have the "Aerial/downconvertor/powerinserter" that was mentioned earlier. I do have a neighbour who has this working and has informed me that I will def need this. So before I go shelling out €100 on a Eurovox, I would like to get hold of the downconvertor/powerinserter and test it out with his box. so anybody know where I can get one ? or what sort of model details should I be searching for ? Or where is good place to look. I dont see anything on ebay. Thanks a mill.
He has the same as you as in N** MMDS, you can use a Eurovox Max V, just get an F type coax adapter for the cable input.
anyone know the NTL Box I was referring to in my previous post. It's about twice the size of the ordinary NT* digital box. One scart a card at the back and one Cable Connection. The connection that you screw in? Is there a box that can be bought to replace this? Thanks
Some older pace boxes for mmds have the power inserter fitted to the backside of the box. If there is no aditional black box you need an extra power inserter for an other box.
thanks for the reply. sorry but I don't fully understand what you are telling me. I have the ordinary small NT* box myself so I just plug the 2 cables into the Eurovox and the scart lead. With my friends one there seems to be some splitter but all the cables are ones that you screw in. So don't see how I can hook them up to the Eurovox? Thanks
I you have only a connection problem use an adapter. Ebay is full with f-socket to coax male adaptors.
Thanks again for the reply. with my nt* box I have an AC Adapter that has 2 cables coming out of it ANT & TV. These cables are the screw in ones at the ac adapter end and are the ordinary coax sockets at the ends that go into the Eurovox. One for RF in and one for Loop out. With my friends NT* box he only has the one coax cable connection in the back as opposed 2 that I have. So do I only need one adapter for this cable. Do I put the cable in the RF In or the Loop Out? Thanks
I don't understand your question. Why on earth do you want connect an input cable to an output at a box. Loop out is a output and you get there what is coming in via RF as loop through.
