Problem 1: Searched loads of shops (Dixons, Peats, Power City) today in Dublin looking for a null modem serial cable. None found. Any ideas of where else to look. Will try Maplins tomorrow.

Problem 2: Other problem is that I don't have the connector on my laptop for the null cable to fit in. GRRRR! Are there any alternative solutions to connect from lap top to Eurovox ?

Plug it into a normal pc.. they usually have a com port.. you dont need to be beside your tv or cable connection to do it.. even bring it into work or college and do it there.. only takes 2 mins
