Nothing wrong but it's not using CCE, Quenc is a free transcoder that works with RB. You should also have the option of choosing the HC.batch encoder which I believe is also included with the install. I've heard that when used with the high quality setting it's pretty good. You can't use a path. It won't work with CCE unless you have it installed.

forget this, I want the best, it has to be CCE. Should I just go buy Basic at the website. It seems using the 'installer' everything would be a lot easier to set up and run. I'm so excited right now!!!

After you get CCE Basic, in the setup window for path to CCE Basic it should read similiar to this C:/program files/Custom Technology/Cinema Craft Encoder Basic/cct2.exe

ok bought CCE Basic and quite impressive it is. I'm not blown away but well worth the money. I backed up an episodic DVD and I think (using the default rebuilder settings) that the first episode was crisper than the others. Is there a way to fix that?

Also, when will 'main movie only' be supported by rebuilder? I keep hearing about 1.0 pro version.

Maybe you should check out the plugins Undot and Deen if you haven't already. They do help to clean it up a bit.

And it does support movie only. Click Mode and you can check the option for movie only. You can also rip movie only with Decrypter. Don't know which one is better, I'm assuming it doesn't matter really.

    @VJbob

If the first episode is clearer than the others you've probably selected one of the "Steal Space From Extras" options -- that option shouldn't be used on series discs because everything except one episode (the largest) would be considered "extras"

Got it, yeah it was checked for 25%. I just backed up another movie and tried to burn to Nero but it was slightly to big maybe about 60MB. I then went to Nero Recode and it said the backup would be 100% from the DVD-RB output files. I used deep analysis and slow recoding and the final product came out funny.

Should I use DVD-RB twice if its still too big the first time or will that result be funny (picture kind of flickers) as well?

Run it through DVD Shrink and see if there's any language files or subtitles that you can remove so that you can run it through with no compression. I've never seen a movie oversized by just 50 megs. Could right click on the folder and post the size here?

nope just a regular movie. I already deleted the folder but I know it was to large to burn with Nero but supposedly could be Nero Recoded at 100% with no compression without removing anything. I guess if the output files from DVD-RB are too large than I should recompress them again with DVD-RB to reach the correct target size.

I noticed that when running DVD-RB that it turns off my screensaver. I enabled it again, that shouldn't be a problem right?

Also, is there a way to get updates to CCE Basic Retail version?

    @Jdobbs

Remember I believe to the page before this I mentioned a problem with The Incredibles DVD. I was reading through the Doom9 forums and have come across a thread which was labeled DVD-Mastering Errors and it hit me that I had AnyDVD enabled when ripping.

    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=97082&page=1&pp=20

Being that the latest release of DVD-RB was released sometime this weekend, have you checked to see if there was a problem with the Incredibles DVD while blanking extras enabling movie & menu mode only? I would do it right now but that PC is doing a batch of DVDs at the moment. I very much look forward to your findings as well as your reply to AnyDVD errors.;-)

After I upgraded to Pro, I noticed that my full-movie backups no longer go to the menu when I start them -- they go straight to the first title in the main VOB.

My problem is that the DVDs that I am backing up are Episode disks (Babylon 5) and have all 4 episodes together in 1 VOB file. The DVD rebuilder output immediately plays episode 1, and then goes back to the 'select episode' menu when that episode is done, rather than playing all 4 sequentially, like it would if I chose 'play all' from the main menu.

Is this normal default behavior for rebuilder Pro to change the default menu options to automatically play movie, and how can I turn this feature off?

    Thanks.

DVD Rebuilder does not change menus. In fact they are copied intact. The only exception is "Movie-Only" mode -- in which a new set of IFO files are generated from scratch and there are no menus.

That is strange then. The disk I copied with the free version goes to the menu when I insert it into my standalone, but every disk I have copied with the Pro version jumps straight to the movie. The originals all go to the menu.

You say that the IFO files are copied intact and unchanged, but the VTS_1_0.IFO and VTS_1_0.BUP files in the Rebuilder output directory are different sizes that the ones in the input directory (the new ones are larger that the originals)?

I do not have any movie processing options checked in the menu, so it should be processing the entire disk.

It looks like I will just have to go back and re-install the free version for these, as I don't know what else to do.

Are you using the same method of ripping the files before doing the encode? Just a thought, people have had similar situations with the AnyDVD/DVD Decrypter setup. I often use AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter for the express purpose of having the player jump direct to the movie and bypass trailers and menu. I can still access the menu with the menu command option. The navigation commands are optional with AnyDVD. BTW, jdobbs should know whether he changed his app or not. Who better than the author to say how the program was written?

OK after several backups I have to say this is far and away the best one-click transcoder out there. It took me a while to notice (especially with long movies) because Recode and Shrink do a pretty good job at 75% or better. I just have a couple of questions.

    1) Is it possible to undo the menu locks like Shrink and Recode so I can pop a disc in and press menu and go straight to the menu?

    2) Where do I update CCE Basic 2.70. I checked the visible light and CCE website and neither have update links like Nero. I know the Nero updates are very important. Is that the case with CCE Basic 2.70?

    3) I'm interested in 1.0 pro because I want to try the movie only although it seems DVD-RB does such a great job that I can just do full DVDs from now on only removing unwanted audio tracks. Where can I download it? If I have to donate, how much must I donate.

    4) Can someone show me a popup box of CCE Basic encoding. My popup box does not have a label on it, its grey though, and I want to make sure I'm not using one of the free encoders.

    5) Also when burning with 0.93 I often have to delete a small file (something like VTS_02_VOB) in order for it to burn without a warning (something about it being unreferenced). This happens about one every five times. Is that a bug?

Thanks for any help and for making a great program.

I can pop in a disc and hit the menu button and go straight to the menu. What happens when you do it?
CCE Basic is at 2.70.0.4 I think, should be able to download the latest from the Visible Light or CCE site.
Would show you a popup box but I'm at work right now. Usually the tab down in the taskbar says Cinema Craft Encoder.
This is something I've only seen with this software, but if you ignore it the backup turns out fine.

    Hey!

I've encoded a movie using the option "Movie Only". I've removed all Audio Streams except one, and removed all subtitles except one. When the encoding is finished and I watch the movie the subtitles is disables as standard. I can enable the subtitle when the movie starts, but are there any way to force the subtitle to be enabled as standard when I use the "Movie Only" mode?

    Hey Guys,

I edited a dvd the way I want with dvdremake, and it is still to big (needs to lose 2%). Is it a waste of time with cce, hu, etc.? Should I just shrink it or recode it. I want to maximize quality. thanks.
