    Using DVD-RB v1.0RC5.1

I don't have the menu items for "create project iso" and "create/burn project iso" enabled. It doesn't matter if I shut down RB and re-start it, or change project source/destination settings, I can't get the menu items re-enabled. Movies encode with no problems, and "output to iso" works, but I cannot create an iso for pre-existing output.

The only thing I have done differently lately is to select "movie and menu only" for a few movies and changed it back to "full disc backup", and I no longer have these menu two options.

    Current rebuilder.ini:

Those items will only be enabled if:

    1. mkiofs.exe exists in either APP_PATH or APP_PATH\APPS.
    2. DVD Decrypter is installed.
    3. REBUILD as been completed for the selected source/working paths.

You can force them to be enabled by setting "PROGRESS=3" in the INI and restarting DVD-RB -- but if there isn't a completed VIDEO_TS folder it really won't help.

Thanks. I will try this. The most frustrating part about this is I have successfully used these menu items to create ISO images before, so there is nothing wrong with the setup/installation. I posted on here a while back with this problem, using RC4, and nobody else seemed to be having this problem. It used to be just an occasional thing, even with RC5.1, as I have created several ISOs with 5.1 using the menu. It seems strange to have to use a kludge to restore functionality I had just a couple weeks ago.

And before you ask: yes, there is a completed VIDEO_TS folder - it is the output folder from DVD-RB, and I have even tested it on another RB output folder that was used to 'automatically' create an ISO upon completion - I cannot create a new ISO from that directory as these 2 menu items stay greyed out on my system.

Whoops. I mistyped. The PROGRESS=3 goes in the REBUILDER.INF file not the INI file. You'll find it under the [Status] area.

That line was already in the .inf file.

Anyway, I fired up the Rockas installer and reinstalled the full package and that seems to have fixed it for now. Apparently, merely unzipping the upgrade files messes something up on my computer. This is the 3rd time since upgrading to pro (v.93) that I've had to do a full reinstall to fix something not working correctly.

Thanks for the quick response, though.

Just backed up the Ring 2 and RB made the file larger than a DVD-5 disk?

Why? I've backed up about 20 movies with RB and this is the 1st time I encountered this......

Update on my Kung Fu Hustle problem, It was the disk. For some reason Decrypter didn't copy all of the files to the HD. I had to manually do it. So RB worked.

But back to the Ring 2 problem, Why all of the sudden would the output be larger than usual?

I recently installed nero with recode and I am just wondering if anyone has noticed a conflict with this and dvd-rb.I am now having many problems with dvd-rb.the folder D2VAVS when i am using dvd-rb also had nero recode files.Just curious if nero recode is what is suddenly causing me trouble with dvd-rb.

I have DVD RB and one of the later, if not latest, Nero versions with Recode. They're updating Nero all the time. No problems with mine and I have a lot of other codecs on the system as well. The only way I could see interference is if some of the software somehow became corrupted. RB plays well with many other recording apps without problems. I just remembered, with Nero you will see files with the Nero icons in other program folders. They're still the same files. You'll notice the same thing if you add a program like PowerDVD. It takes priority on some file types and you'll see that program's icons on the files in other programs. That doesn't affect the working of the programs.

hello all don't mean to interupt but I hope all goes well here as I got scared away weeks ago but I see we broke a 100 pgs this is the reason I am bringing you this brief interlude form the grind
I have started a thread in feedback forum requesting there be a whole forum dedicated to the almighty rebuilder I think we proved we need and deserve it

I think it holds it's own against the likes of shrink imho it's kicks it's ass makes it look like a girly prog(no offense ladies;0)

if you wish to provide support to the cause or even if you think I'm a moron feel free post your thoughts on the matter here > http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/227142
I think it is truely the members here that make this a great and helpful site maybe we can even make it better

Sounds like you got the programs corrupted. The exe files of one aren't supposed to work the other. You didn't get a path in RB messed up did you? All I can do is speak for my setup and say it doesn't happen to me. I've yet to hear it be a problem for others and many of us have Nero with Recode on our systems. As I mentioned, I have a lot of other codecs besides and they don't have a problem either. I'm curious to see if anyone else has had the same problem.

    @L8Nights,

LOL Can't I call you a moron here just as easily? LOL That aside, I agree with you; if Shrink and some others have their own section, why not RB? After all, the RB app is second to none for doing quality backups. I'm in support of an RB section.

    Jdobbs,
I just installed the most current version .94

I used RB on the Ring 2 with version 93 and 94 and both times the file size was larger than normal. Only with this particular movie though.
I did a batch mode and the other movie came out normal.

    here is the log file...

well it's not as embarassing when you bury it behind 2500+posts but you just post it where you like there brobear
any way's thnx to brobear we now have a forum !!that was quick I think the ava. in his sig must have intimidated someonelol!!

I do think almost everybody should start a new thread and use this one for refference

especially if you are not using cce or your question has to do w/ comparing encoders or other options
as that is why I love rebuilder it gives you the power to do all the tweaking here and there and provides us all a deeper knowledge
than the one-click program's that everybody is stuck on today

    @quick4a6

When you say "bigger than normal" what do you mean? Is is way oversized? A little?

Have you set a non-default value for "TargetSectors" in your INI?

one more interuption then i'll be out of the way!!

@jdobbs I commend you on being ther for the pple as they say the war is won on the front. good to see you taking an interest

@qwik4a6 what encoder are you using I'm sorry a little "out of loop" of late but I think your answer lies in the defaults in your encoder if Iam reading your inquiry right the file is bigger than your media will allow right??

It's slightly bigger, but big enough to where it won't fit on a DVD-5
( the output file is 4.49GB. When I try to burn it with nero, it goes over the allotted space and tells me I need a larger disk.

Where do I edit the .ini file? I thought I found it but I don't see any parameters that included target sectors. Can somebody point me to it?

Again this is the only movie to have done this so far.
Most of the other movies output are 4.32GB's.

Occasionally the program can get corrupted for any number of reasons. I've had this happen on my PC. Instead of going through an extensive search for the problem, I simply deleted the setup, ran the cleanup software, and then reinstalled a fresh version of the setup. With the Rockas installer, you will probably spend more time doing the cleanup than the install. So far reinstallation of RB has worked the few times I started getting oversized files. As in your case, it wasn't with all DVDs. Some DVDs are more difficult than others to encode is why you see some that come in okay and others not when the problems crop up. When things are working right, as we know, they all should be properly sized by the default settings. Each time this occurred I tried adding the setting for size and it didn't work and the reinstallation did (the whole setup, not just the RB part of it). It doesn't take long, so give it a try. At least then you'll know it shouldn't be a problem with the setup.

Is this an NTSC disc? If so I'll pick up a copy of "The Ring 2" and give it a run to see what I can find. Having seen "The Ring" -- the odds are slim that I'll watch it though! LOL

    Jdobbs,
Yes it's the NTSC disk. the one that just came out last week.

    Brobear,
I hear what you mean, But I just fresh installed .94 Last night and ran it, and it still made it a slightly larger file. So that's with a clean V.94 install and also with a V.93 that has been working perfectly.

My guess is that' it's a disk issue...
Maybe someone else on these boards will run into the same problem with this movie, then we can know for sure.....
