    @ sophocles

    again: yes and no

of course the ecl handling would be different and thus having installed 2.5 and selecting NEW must lead to NO encoding as the ecls dont work

in spirit18's case it was, however, an encoding of ~90 min so there is definitely a cce version running

i do second the idea of a fresh installation however as i have never come across a complete encoding that was not slightly oversized but entirely out of this world

uncasMS it will still try to encode but it will not work and that's what happened. I've dealt with the same error dozens of times Below is a copy of his response verifying what I've been saying.

Hmm! must be pick at Soph night.

Could you please post back and let us know if it worked? There's nothing wrong with your speeds for your system. That Barton 2500 can be overclocked easily to a 2800 plus and even a 3200+ if your equipments supports it.

Glad everything worked out. When you have a problem just look a setup before going elsewhere.

The encoder failed (crashed) on that segment. That pretty much means your system isn't stable. Most of the time it is an indicator that either your processor or your memory is overclocked beyond its ability.

I recommend defrag, uninstall everything, use the installer, rip again, then run it through DVDrebuilder.

Overclockng can cause errors because encoding is CPU intensive and an overheated CPU can cause errors and also since you overclock by widening your frontside bus your memory could also be producing errors. Try encoding without overclocking and see if that works.

Sophocles you are right about the over clocking I was having some problems before too and it was do the fact that my cpu was over clocked.

That shouldn't stop you from over clocking, it just meant that you went too far and made it unstable.

It's definitely been awhile since I received the dreaded buffer over run #0003 error which managed to show up unexpectedly last night as I was backing up Episode III. After updating the NAVPACKS on 88.2% the program would come to a hault and the DVD-RB is forced to shut down. I usually edit my DVDs before hand and rarely come to a problem where DVD-RB is forced to close down like it did yesterday evening. IfoEdit was used to strip multi-angles 2 & 3 as well as removing all audio tracks except for the Dolby Surround 2.0 track. DVD-RB ran it down to 51% so I can imagine the compression if I kept the Dolby 5.1 track.;-( I've done a few DVDs removing extra angles, most recently The Incredibles DVD and didn't come to a problem with DVD-RB. Also before heading to class this morning I was about to give DVD-RB a go once more after editing the DVD9 version with Vob Blanker but I noticed in the log that the program reported a few audio errors during processing. Has anyone managed to successfully create a edit version of this disc yet?

I think you must have corrupted the source with IFOEDIT... I did that DVD yesterday with no problems.

instead of using a edit program you can choose movie and menu's only.I backed up episode 3 with no problems doing this.Personal feeling here is the more proggies you use the more room for errors you will get.good luck

Editing is nice but you can render a DVD non compliant doing it and that's what it sounds like here.

I gave it a go once more being that I had more time available yesterday to properly edit the DVD and run a few tests before actually encoding with DVD-RB. Edited down to as much as I can and DVD-RB reported 61.2% video quality which is pretty darn good considering that my previous try was 51.7%. Ran it with DVD-RB and it finished successfully. ;-)

Yes it is nice to get things as small as possible, even with RB. I've been backing up a lot of older movies lately and many of them are still type 5 so I've grown a bit rusty with editing.
