I was looking around, weren't the iDCT settings missing from v1.04 and the settings moved to Options in v1.05? Looks like we've been given some settings to adjust again. I missed that move until just told. LOL Rockas, bring on the manual. ;) Happy Holidays all...

No... they were moved in v1.04. From the log:

    November 28th, 2005 (v1.04)
    CHANGES MADE TO PRO VERSION
    - Reorganized the "Options" configuration. It is
no longer accessed as a Menu. Now it is accessed
via a Tree View on either the tab bar, or, for
for pre-version 1.00 skins, via an "Options"
choice in the "Settings" menu. The menu had grown
too large for easy use. Some "quick access" items
    remain under the "Settings" menu.

Since we're about to enter into a new year, I'm going to make a confession. Although I used to read each change log with a focus and attention that would have made my mother proud, now I skim them so quickly that it is unlikely that I'll remember anything for more than a few minutes. LOL

I guess that's fair... I write them, so I have no choice.

I'm guilty as well. LOL I stand corrected, the settings are there under Settings -> Options -> AVS Options -> AVS Expert Options -> Set Decoder iDCT. Still a bit deep for the uninitiated, but I'll not complain, Rockas promised me a manual. ;)

When he gets it to you, can I borrow it for a bit or maybe get a copy? LMAO

No need to reply, I know what you meant.

LOL I know... Just a touch of humor there on my part as well. I'll loan it to you after I give it a good read. ;)

    Off topic a bit:

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New year.

We've come a long ways since July, 2004, and RB well before that. DVD Rebuilder has made a lot of progress thanks to the quality feedback that many of us have given to our good friend jdobbs. It is inevitable that as time moves forward there would be fewer and fewer cries for help as RB became more user friendly and stable. Although the RB forum was long overdue and it did eventually arrive and for that I'm grateful. So what does 2006 hold for those of us who've followed the trail since 2004?

The answer to that question is RB 3.0. LOL Now that RB is stable, it's time to start adding some advanced editing features.

    1) How about the simple removal of trailers? (no remake comments please)

    2) joining the two sides of a flipper to 1 with a single functioning menu?

There are so many other possiblities and those are just two, does anyone else have a feature that they would like to see in a future 3.0 RB version?

    Again Happy New year.

    Soph

Those are some good suggestions Soph and I would also like to have a pause feature if that is possible. Happy new year to everybody.

I think all the above suggestions are great, I have not been following the trail as long as others, but really appreciate the quality and support for this program. I want to thank Mort 81 for suggesting the program to me, Sophocles and Brobear for their patience and help when I first started using it and had some difficulties, rockas for his oh so helpful installer and jdobbs for an exceptional program. May all of you have a happy, healthy and wonderful New Year.

You're welcome Arniebear and I hope the New Year brings you and yours all the best. Have a good one.

    Sophocles,
I thought you were using AnyDVD. That kills those nasty little adverts and trailers before they ever make it to the movie. I need to write a note to leave that option off on some of the old classics. Some of those adverts and trailers are classic as well as the movie. As long as a person is using AnyDVD, I don't see what the difference would be of deleting the adverts and trailers with it or with that edit option in another program.

I prefer a physical removal of trailers, AnyDVD ins't always reliable there.

Guess I've been lucky, no problems with that function so far. If we're lucky, jdobbs will give us some new bells and whistles. He just released a new version while I was on vacation. Now that I'm home, I'll have to load it and give it a try.

    Hi brobear,

Like with Soph, seldom does anydvd remove all the trailers and adverts for me either. Sometimes it does but most of the time it doesn't.

With RB working as well as it does, that's no bother for me. As long as I get to go to the menu without having to watch the adverts and trailers is good enough for me. That, AnyDVD has been a true whiz at.

I agree with the menus and movie only feature, but I'd also like to keep the extras on some movies without the trailers. Slide show extras don't quite do it.

So far, anything that has extras I want, I just keep everything with RB. The viewing quality on my 60 inch set remains good even with the blockbuster movies. I just have to remember to make sure the AnyDVD command to remove "things" isn't checked. I wish a person could just exercise the jump option without the "remove", but AnyDVD just isn't set up that way. The folks at AnyDVD don't seem to be as open to suggestions as jdobbs has been.

    hello,

this is my first time on this site. I recently have tried using Rebuilder and CCE because I was not happy with the quality coming from DVD Shrink and I wanted to try another method. However, i am having problems getting this to work. First, here is the versions i am using.

    DVD Rebuilder V0.96
    CCE SP 2.50.01.00 not trial
    AVISynth 2.5.6.0

here is how i have Rebuilder setup.

CCE mode is checked, as well as converttoYUY2 and MPEG2SOURCE. Under CCE options i have CCE SP v2.50 checked. Under Setup, i have the path to CCE SP 2.5 identified to go to my cctsp.exe, and i have the path to decoder indentified to go to my MPEG2Dec3dg.dll.

when i try to use rebuilder, it goes through the prepare stage and gives this

    [09:01:05] One Click encoding activated...
    -----------------
    [09:01:07] Phase I, PREPARATION started.
    - "Steal Space from Extras" mode is enabled.
    - VTS_04: 939,542 sectors.
-- Scanning and writing .D2V file
    -- Processed 63,641 frames.
-- Building .AVS and .ECL files
    - VTS_05: 945,257 sectors.
-- Scanning and writing .D2V file
    -- Processed 65,424 frames.
-- Building .AVS and .ECL files
    - VTS_06: 928,798 sectors.
-- Scanning and writing .D2V file
    -- Processed 63,086 frames.
-- Building .AVS and .ECL files
    - VTS_07: 898,934 sectors.
-- Scanning and writing .D2V file
    -- Processed 62,495 frames.
-- Building .AVS and .ECL files
    - Reduction Level for DVD-5: 53.2%
    - Overall Bitrate : 2,652Kbs
    - Space for Video : 3,437,898KB
    - Movie improvement from extra reduction = 144.0%
    - HIGH/LOW/AVERAGE Cell Bitrates: 7,816/563/2,652 Kbs
[09:07:55] Phase I, PREPARATION completed in 6 minutes.

when the encoding process starts, the following message pops up

"File v04000000001001 shows completed, but no .m2v file exists. Aborted." and the following log is displayed in Rebuilder

    [09:07:55] Phase II ENCODING started
    - Creating M2V for VTS_04 segment 0
-- Encoding resulted in no .M2V, retrying.
    - Creating M2V for VTS_04 segment 0
-- Encoding resulted in no .M2V, retrying.
    - Creating M2V for VTS_04 segment 0
    Aborted.

Does anybody know what i am doing wrong? any help is appreciated as i have spent the entire weekend and monday trying to figure this out.

    thanks

    chris
