Yes especially after all this time and to just now through this out there??? Unless he (they) wish to close this thread?? In my opinion I can see no other reason for the attack on Soph now??

In my opinion the moderator posting at Soph after all this time knew that he would most likely kill this Thread.......

What a shame...... This was a great forum!!

    @ 64026402
Who is running anyone off (mastermind) ??

    @ marvmcc
Why on earth would I purposefully think of 'killing' a thread , that has no logic to it what-so-ever imho !!
And also where's this so called ''attack of Soph'' as you put it ... ? I dont see one - unless my vision has just failed. o_0
It would seem that it is I who's being attacked if anyone.

    As for this :
That's just plainly offensive & shows just who Sophocles really is obviously.

    *Offensive post reported*

P.S. I will not be shutting this thread contrary to popular (but misguided) belief !

If we're talking about distracting sigs, then that of herbsman should be looked at seriously by the other mods and staff. Not only is there the distracting movement, I find the posting of illegal marijuana leaves questionable by a moderator, who should be setting a good example for the children attracted to AfterDawn. That seems to be mostly what is here nowadays.

The flashing gif in safc_66 sig is distracting with the flashing as well. Seems those complaining are as guilty as those they're pointing the finger at.

AD used to be a place where one could learn and where intellectual discussions could take place. There used to be a division between threads and sections where members played games and those where technical issues could be addressed. Now everything seems to be degraded. No one said it had to be a place with a fixed curriculum, but freedom of expression shouldn't be curtailed. Accusing someone of supporting the Hitler doctrine because he is quoted is ridiculous. Ever think the thought may be pointed at those thoughtlessly letting their surroundings be degraded and destroyed.

As for closing the thread, it may as well be done when you eliminate the major contributors to the thread. Herbsman could have PMed Sophocles about the oversized signature. There was no need to have done it on the public forum. It was obviously a show of power. I'm going to unsubscribe from this thread as well. It seems like every time I come back to the forum for a visit, more of the most knowledgable members of AD are being harrassed and leaving threads or AD itself. I'm going to unsubscribe from this thread as well.

i always thought the rules were a guideline, and yes there are those people who visibly try to push the boundaries to the limits. But it is up to the mods and the admin to decide the limits to which we have things.Maybe its time to have no sigs,The bitching to and fro might stop .

[bold]@ all you guys who are offended.[/bold]

Get over it.Its not herbsman who makes policy , its the admin. Its herbsmans right as a mod to enforce the rules. If he doesnt then what kind of mod is he.If one person can by pass them what kind of example is being sent out to every one.I know............., its one rule for some people and another set for the rest.

At the end of the day, it's one of the rules which we abide by.Its up to you guys whether or not you contribute to this forum or go and do something else. But its a loss that will be seen by the ones who need the help most

    @ bigorange:

its a nice flowery speech but playing the matyr isnt really going to do anything but harm the integrity of this thread.

Maybe it is time to close this one or maybe you guys need to go and cool of , come back when you have seen the light and help those that really need your help and who arent overly concerned with things like, the largeness of sigs.

    As per my above post

The source VTS is 7,555 Mb and my "Space for Video" is 3,768 Mb - so reduction level is 51.3%

When I say space for video, I am just quoting what it tells me in DVD-RBs window when I click backup DVD- (one click mode)

Really the space for video is a whole DVD5.

Jdobbs - the reason I was asking about NTSC > PAL conversion is because I read your posts at the start of this thread with "Happyuser" - and you were telling him how this re-encodes every single frame one by one.

I just wondered if there was a way to incorporate a frame by frame NTSC to PAL re-encode into what RB does. Having written it, obviously I will take your word on the matter as final. Is it possible?

    Thanx again

An NTSC to PAL conversion rarely results in the level of quality that DVD-RB users have come to expect. The problem is that you have to remove about one out of every six frames... and it is very hard to do that without causing a video jump or "tick" of some sort. It's easier for a FILM source -- but you then have to adjust all the audio timings to keep sync.

There are several NTSC->PAL techniques I've seen used... but there always seems to be "quirks".

PAL to NTSC is a little easier.. because you can do it using PULLDOWN flags.

I can't recall the "HappyUser" discussion (and this thread is kinda long)... but DVD-RB reencodes every frame in all of it's modes except when using ReJig.

    Thanks jdobbs

The Happyuser - was a nuisance user who made an ass of himself telling you not to try and teach people about DVD-RB until you had learned about it (*which made me chuckle).

I appreciate being able to get an answer from the person who wrote the software. I know you know your stuff. So thanks for that jdobbs, and thanks for DVD-RB too.

I hope I am not posting a question for the second time, but this thread is sooo long I can't sit here and look at every query.

    DVD-RB v0.97
    Windows XP Media Edition
    Brand new DELL 510 with:
-dual X86 family 15 model 4 stepping genuine intell processors
    -512RAM
    -1.6 gig
    -2.80 Pentium 4
-Optiarc (Sony/NEC) 16X DVD DL burner

I recently purchased CCE-SP and wanted to use DVD-RB with it. I have been trying for 2 dyas now and cannot get CCE to encode anything with DVD-RB. I attempted first to load and enable everything on DVD-RB myself with no success. Try as I may, I looked at every tutorial out there, looked through the CCE manual for installing ecl's and everything, to no avail.

Then I found the read me with the link for the self-installer. I thought "Cool" and unloaded everything and reloaded first CCE-SP, then the DVD-RB set-up. It asked me a few questions and I answered them, creating 3 files c:\dvdrip, c:\dvdrip\dvd-rebuilder\dvdrb workfolder, and c:\dvdrip\dvd-rebuilder\dvdrb outputfolder. My linking them to the working folder and output being self-evident I assume.

Every time I try to prepare everything goes fine. When I go to encode I get this:

    c:\dvdrip\dvd-rebuilder\dvdrb work
folder\d2vavs\item.ecl is not a ecl for cinema craft enc.
    sp.

I click OK 3 times then get this:
error: file v01000000001001 shows completed, but no
    .m2v file exists. Aborted.

I tried encoding with the included HC encoder to no avail. It processed for about 2 hours then kicked me off. I double passed and it passed through about 50 files before it booted me off.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

If you are using full-up commercial ($1900) version of CCE SP, make sure you have set SETTINGS/CCE SETTINGS to "CCE SP". CCE SP commercial and CCE SP Trial have different headers in the ECL files. The error you are seeing is an indicator that the header is incorrect.

What do you mean when you say HC "kicked you off" after 2 hours? You may want to post your REBUILDER.INI file so we can see your settings.

I am sorry about not including my CCE version... 2.70.02.10

I have tried both versions just to ensure I have installed and set up everything correctly and neither one works. I recieve the same error each time. By the way, I am on the 3 click option, and I have tried 1 click and wound up with the same error codes.

Maybe my general set-up pathways are wrong. For some reason I had to manually input my CCE pathways while the paths to rejig, quenc, eclpro, decoder, and decomb.dll were automatically input.

    My pathways are listed:

    Path to CCE SP2.5 c:\dvd rip\ccesp\cctspt.exe
Path to CCE SP (new) c:\dvd rip\ccesp\cctspt.exe
    Path to Rejigc:\dvd rip\dvd-rebuilder\encoders\rejig\rejig.exe
    Path to QuEncc:\dvd rip\dvd-rebuilder\encoders\quenc\quenc.exe
    Path to EclPROc:\dvd rip\dvd-rebuilder\encoders\eclpro\eclpro.exe
    Path to Decoderc:\dvd rip\dvd-rebuilder\dgdencode.dll
    Path to Decomb.dllc:\dvd rip\decomb521.dll

How do I access the rebuilder.ini folder (pardon my ignorance).

Oh yeah, with regaurds to the shut down, there was a listed error code and it said "stopped". I will retry it tonight when I don't need the computer and will list the error tomorrow if you think it might help. I just have alot to do and will be using alot of processor, so the endoding will be a bit prohibitive this evening.

With mine being the commercial version and not the trial version I need to (from what I read), put my command in as ...cctspt.exe correct?

I went to that forum but recieved a server too busy error. Figures, I'll check it again later.

Well, instead of reupping it directly into my dvdrip\ccesp folder (which I loaded the program directly here before) I reloaded it to the standard: c:\program files\custom technology\cctspt folder so I wind up with: c:\program files\custom technology\cctspt.exe in my path to CCE SP (new). I left the path to CCE SP 2.5 alone since I use pentium and I am using 2.7... software. I set my: options\cce options to cce sp, so I assume I am right. I will try again and see if this works. I will reply again if I get a no-go... Thanks for your help fellas... I am getting frustrated, and sometimes I just need to be walked through things.

I swear, I have loaded Pirates of the Carribean 30 *^%$#@! times so far!!! LOL, well I have the week off so I guess it gives me something to do other then crank movies and drink beer.

It should look like this, I believe the setting in CCE SP new are for ver 2.7 as that is what UncasMS the writer of the guide uses.

Got it fellas. I put it in exactly as Arniebear and Mort81 suggested... in fact, exactly as mort had his screenshot. I am trying it again... (load #31 and counting LOL).

Thanks for your assistance and patience.

Interesting... I am not sure why but I couldn't get it to work with the paths you listed above. I kept getting a non-existant path error. But I did get it to work, maybe you can explain this to me...

My paths were a bit differant but I still kept getting the same (non-existant) error code with the path for basic included, when I removed it, I got the origional error message. SO I thought, what the heck, I just spent all that money, why not spend $58 more? I bought the CCE basic program, linked it all up and it worked. Then I went to CCE SP, and it worked!!! The CCE SP box pops up when I have CCE SP marked, and the CCE Basic pops up when it is selected.

I don't get it, but it is working.

Also, thanks Arniebear, in a big way. I read the tutorials and saw on the second one (freeware for dummies :) ) that I needed an iso conversion too. I loaded up folder2iso and I am ready for my first real high quality rip and burn.

This forum has been a blessing, and you guys were fantastic help. THANKS!!!

If you upgrade to rebuilder pro ($30 I think) it will build an iso for you automatically if you choose along with many other added features. It will even automatically burn to a blank disc you have loaded in your dvdrw drive if you so choose. You will need dvd decrypter or imgburn to automatically burn.

Upgrading to the Pro version is really money well spent, I used the free one a few times and then upgraded, money well spent :)
