Experiencing Difficulty Using DVD RB and CCE? If So, Then Ask Your Questions Here.

I half read the tutorial and ignored a step. I wound up with 2 coasters before actually reading the whole thing. Instead of using DVD Derypter, like I have been, I am now in the process of ripping with DVDFab Encrypter, exactly as in the tutorial linked. I also added Menu-Shrink, exactly as per the tutorial. When this is done, I will rip one up. I have no problem spending the money, if the product will work for me. If this all goes good, I will be upgrading to the Pro-Version. I was just about to ask if I read the Pro-Version tutorial wrong about the ISO conversion, but you guys answered the question for me before I could ask it.

Oh yeah, and I do use Decrypter to burn, and I also have IMGBurn loaded, but I saw somewhere on here that Decrypter works better... albeit a bit slower. But I don't care about speed, just the quality

ImgBurn is by the same developer as DVDDecrypter, he is LUK!!. Macrovision put him out of business on DVDDecrypter and there have been no updates to this program for a year. ImgBurn is the burning part of DVDDecrypter and is supported and updated by LUK!!. It is just as good, if not better to use.

 

Are you sure you are using the clean installable freeware version available at www.jdobbs.com? The setup and paths sure don't look like it.

ImgBurn is by far the best burning package available. The question is: If you are using the freeware package -- how are you getting the ISO file for output? Neither ImgBurn nor DVD Decrypter will burn without one.

 

Yeah, by the interface I could tell they were the same. I also saw somewhere about why he did it, etc. The comparison I mentioned was here:

I guess I should take it with a grain of salt, but the winner in all categories except speed was DVD Decrypter. I am new and still learning, so I am all ears if you disagree, and why.

While the technical aspect of DVD Backup is still new to me, I am considerably technical (my side job and actual profession require me to be). I'll learn, and take my hobbies seriously.

Yes sir. I actually copied the link directly from the read-me file. It never automatically inputted my paths for CCE (as I stated). I actually inputted them myself. But it's cool, I reinstalled all versions and listed my paths, and it seems to be working now. I still don't get why I needed to load both the Basic and SP version... but whatever... It is working, it seems

 

Now I am getting really frustrated. I downloaded all the software suggested on the tutorial, then I followed the tutorial exactly (except I enabled CCE SP, then I tried CCE Basic not HCEncoder). I even did menu-shrink. I went through the entire process of prepare, encode, and rebuild. It all seemed cool. I did my Folder2ISO write, and I used Decrypter to burn... my latest 2 coasters. I put it in my DVD Player (Pioneer Elite DV45A) and nothing... My computer DVD Player and burner... nothing. The Elite loads, stops, loads, then ejects the disc (the exact same way it did when I tried to play an AVI though it). My previous burns (using DVDShrink, and Decrypter) work fine (aside from poor quality).

So what to do? I can copy my folders here if it will help, but somewhere from my rip to burn I am losing something.

I stick my Video_TS folder from my rip to the DVD-RB. it takes about 12 minutes to "prepare", 102 Minutes to encode, and 22 minutes to rebuild. Here is my status screen:

I went to folder2iso, converted it in about 5 minutes, then went to DVDDecrypter/mode/iso/write, selected the Video_TS in the folder output by F2ISO (C:\Documents and Settings\Seth Aquino\Desktop\Quality DVD rip\Completed DVD rips in ISO\Pirates_of_the_Carribean (which is listed as a file type: WinRAR Archive, Opens with Windows Media Player). Do I need to unpack it from the WinRAR Archive and try it again? Where do I unpack it?

 

Actually, I rightclicked the file and it asked if I wanted to burn using IMGBurn. I am trying that now... So many coasters... what is a man to do? Maybe I will hang them from my rear view mirror like the kids do nowadays (hehehe).

I am really not sure what you are doing, you got so many programs going. I guess I am just a purist, I rip my DVD and load it into RB, choose what I want. If I want to edit, I use three click mode, if not then one click. RB does it thing, never a coaster except when I first used the program and did not have my paths correct. I have used both CCE Basic and CCE 2.67, also HC and they work perfectly. Why don't you just try to do a movie without all the rest of the programs, just RB. If you do not want to get the RB Pro that has the iso option in it, then get a burning programs that will do VOB files, you are altering the file after RB which defeats the purpose.

 

I just did what the tutorial said, word for word. I didn't see a real reason to try all the extra goodies, but I figured if it worked for her it would/should work for me.

I would buy PRO, but I have already spent over $2750 for programs that arent working and spent the last 3 days wasting time and money. I just can't see spending $30 more unless I know it will work. Not trying to sound like a jerk, it is just that I am so frustrated, and irritated right now. If I can get it to work, I will be glad to donate for the extra version...

I will retry it just ripping it down then loading it up.

 

Exactly what tutorial are you talking about? You spent $2700 on software to work with DVD-RB... but don't have $30 for DVD-RB Pro? Hmmm... sounds a little odd to me. Anyway -- from your log it looks like DVD-RB is working fine. I have no idea where you got your ISO software or how you are using it when you create the ISO -- so I can't tell you what it is doing wrong. But it sounds like it isn't making a usable ISO image.

The DVD-RB freeware version works and works well. I have no idea what you are doing or what the tutorial says... but I do know that there are over a hundred thousand people using the freeware version that have simply installed it and let it do its thing.

Pretty much every DVD burner comes with software that can be used to write the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to DVD+-R.

 

Well I have been known to pinch a penny til it screams, but I will say that buying RB Pro was a good investment, and my wallet wasn't yelling at the price. The program does an excellent job, and I never had a moments grief on playback.

 

No, I spent the money trying to work it as a stand alone. I bought CCE SP and the Adobe Plug-in. Then, in my reading I realized I needed a program like DVD-RB. So I try the freeware but in order to get DVD-RB to work, I had to buy the CCE Basic, and I believe DVD-RB is now working (see my status list I posted above). But I am trying to convert the output file to iso with Folder2Iso. I believe that is where my problem is now, since my DVDs are showing up with these files:

In looking at the status log above on both the DVD-RB and the IMGBurn, I think my problem is lying right between those 2 programs, or my folder2iso program. My assumption is that the pro-version, with it's auto convert to iso will solve the issue, but I want to know for sure before I continue buying more programs and otherwise waste my money, my time, and my discs. This is no knock on your product, but I think my frustration (and apprehension) should be easy enough to understand. I bought the best programs, and so far I had better results with cheap, poor quality freeware. So on that note...

If you feel that the Pro Version will help, I will spend my money this second. Since you are the developer, you let me know.

OK, SO I bought the pro version and my set-up is complete. I do have a question though. Where the program allows me to burn the .iso to disc, and suggests that I need DVD Decrypter or IMGBurn, it does not ask me for the path to either program. I do have both programs installed. Now, with that being said, I have not inserted the disc yet. Will I be asked this, when I insert the disc and set the filepath? It sure would be nice if I could just go to sleep tonight and wake up with a burned disc ready to goin the morning.

 

It finds the path on its own.

I looked at the graphic of the burned directory a few posts above. Your problem appears to be that you are writing those files to the root directory of the DVD with Folder2ISO when you create the ISO. You should be, instead, burning the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories. Those folders are required on a video DVD.

It was wonderful to set the 1 click option last night and wake up this morning with a nicely burned disc in my tray... and it is not a coaster!!! I tried it with a differant film, Finding Nemo, last evening and it is an amazing copy. This suite of programs left an amazingly deep color, and the same depth in the film as the origional. Simply amazing!!! What an excellent program suite.

I do have a couple questions though. When it completes the conversion to .iso, where does it place the final product? I assume it places it in the directory I specified for the output path, am I correct? Then, if I move and rename the folder (from C:\DVD RIP\outputpath\ to say C:\Finding_Nemo) I am to move the entire DVDFILES folder (which includes the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders) correct? So essencially I will rename from C:\DVD RIP\outputpath\DVDFILES to c:\DVD RIP\outputpath\Finding_Nemo, then move my Finding_Nemo folder to c:\. Then if I go to burn it again, I will set the path to the C:\Finding_Nemo, correct? I don't burn just C:\Finding_Nemo\VIDEO_TS

RB will place your iso file in the same output folder as your VOB files. The path for VOB files is C:\Finding_Nemo\VIDEO_TS. If you have the folder named C:/Finding Nemo you then must direct the burning program to the VIDEO_TS folder in order for it to burn the contents. No VIDEO_TS no burn. You cannot burn VOB files with Decrypter or ImgBurn, only iso. VOB files can be burned with such sw as Nero, CopytoDVD, Ones and AShampoo to name a few. Even CloneDVD2 will burn your ouput VTS file. All have trials.

 

Everything in the working and output folders are only related to that single job. In fact if you output to an ISO, you can just leave them both to a set folder and never change them. The D2VAVS contains temporary files that are used for frame serving and adjustment/positioning of the source. The DVDFILES folder contains the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folder that can be burned with any of a number of packages. If you have selected to output to an ISO image, it is stored in the output directory. If you decide to use the same folders all the time, remember, though, that a created ISO is never removed -- so you'll need to decide whether to delete it or not.

After you have completed a good burn, anything in the working and/or output folders can be removed. Everything that DVD-RB needs for its configuration is kept in the "C:\Program Files\DVD-RB Pro" folder.

Thanks! DVD Rebuilder is meant to give you the highest quality possible. It comes at the cost of a little more time, but for me personally -- what is the advantage of DVD Backups if you don't get to keep the quality?

 

Well, I looked around for an .iso file, but I didn't find one in my output path. I did find one in my working path. I took a screenshot of my DVD-RB Pro (so you can see my destination folders), my outputpath/finding_nemo folder, and my workingpath folder with the Finding_Nemo.iso. I tried to find a way to rip from my outputpath\finding_nemo\video_ts folder, but I couldn't... Maybe with this screenshot you can tell me what I am doing wrong...

Nevermind. The ISO in my workingpath burned a perfect copy... I don't understand why it wound up in my workingpath folder though.

It's possible that you didn't have "Enable Output Directory" checked (under the "MODE" menu) at the time you ran the job. When that isn't checked, only one directory is used for both working and output.

Also -- the program you have up (in your jpg image) showing the output directory path is the freeware version (v0.97) -- not the Pro Version. They don't share the same settings.

 

Oh man, it is... I clicked on the wrong shortcut. I guess I need to wipe it out, hehehe... I'll look and see if I have that selected... as well as correct the JPG img

Oh yeah, and I have and will continue to reccomended this product to some of my friends. Of course, I reccomended the CCE Basic, and DVDRB Pro to save them money and headaches .
