...as long as "you can have your cake and eat it, too." Or is that "eat your cake and have it too?" Or was it "you can't have your cake, and eat it too." It's after 6 PM here, and I'm off to find something to eat - fish or bait or cake. :)

Oh god, this is the thread we aren't supposed to pollute. I'll erase this soon enough.

    Doc

God help us if Double "D"'s watching!

And then there's that threat of Vurbal coming in as a mod and slapping our hands for being off topic.

    Is nothing safe anymore?

I tried to send a package today but it was sent back "return to sender."

Eat the bait and chuck the fish?

Doc, you forgot about 2.69 not fixing the odd problem I had. Then on top of that I had a over compression problem and then had to delete everything pertaining to RB/CCE and do a complete fresh install to fix the problem. RB/CCE works great now with any of the retail versions. I had 57 and now have the 58. jdobbs did a great job. Everything works and the movies are spectacular.

[bold]I'd say 2.69 Basic and a complete (as in everything complete) installation of the program [following the guide] would fix a lot of complaints. Tweaking should be left for after a successful run of the program.[/bold]

Last night I ran a test backup on one of the longest - largest movies in my
collection. The movie was Return of the Kings. The movie backed up with
out a hitch. It looked great.. However, I still can not work with zoolander.
I seem to have a problem with any movie were DVD Decryptor brings up
a region screen prior to ripping. This is very odd, and wonder if anyone
else has run into this corolation. This problem can be fixed by using
another third party tool, but not a great fix.

I did Zoolander two days ago (just another test) -- no hitches. The region screen should have no effect, I get them all the time and they work fine.

@brobear...I wasn't aware that you had done a complete reformat/reinstall, and still had the odd problem. Has RB .58 made a difference in being able to use more than one drive now?

@Gnomex...I don't know that I can help you, nor do I want to ignor you. I have done over 100 RB-CCE backups now, and I have had a couple of weird things happen where Decrypter didn't work. I did get the region screen, but I was going into DVD Remake Pro for editing, not directly into RB-CCE. Then I decided to use Smartripper, and I didn't have a problem. All the softwares involved have gone through updates, and I haven't had this problem for some time.

    Gnomex,

While the problem is not you choice of movie it would be good to clear the folders and star from scratch and rip again.
What error did CCE give you? Did you modify the files that were ripped? Are you Using one Hard drive?
    What versions are being used?

    Donald,

    On Hard Drive 0: Partition 1: [C]

The boot partition contains CCE basic, DVD RB, AviSynth, Ect.

    On Hard Drive 1 Partition 2 [E]

This hard drive contains the temp storage for ripped movie and processing of new transcoded movie.

The error message I receive from CCE basic was a general error under XP. This application has experienced an error and will now be closed, not useful.

This problem only seems to happen when I see the region code menu on DVD Decryptoor. I am wondering if there is something else going on in the background that could cause this error.

Last, the movie has been unmodified. Zoo-Lander is only in English. This movie should have been a snap to transcode.

If you have been processing other movies succesfully then you might try updating your DVDdecrypter or rip with DVDshrink.
What verion of CCE are you using? Are all the other programs shut down to see if their may be conflicts.
You also might try running everything on one drive for test purposes to see if there improvement.

If we got all the specs on your setup and the rebuilder .ini file it would help.

    Doc,

No format was necessary, just a complete removal and reinstall of the program components. That took care of the over compression problem I had after getting my setup going.

The odd buffer overflow problem was fixed by putting everything on the same drive (all parts of the program and working folder and source, [bold]everything[/bold]). Thanks to Sophocles for that fix. As far as checking my system for different drive capabilities with the 0.58 version, not yet. I sort of came to the conclusion there is something about my hardware and not the software. I may be wrong, so I'll give it a try when I have some time to spare. If anything changes, I'll let you know.

As I said earlier, once things got going right, there has been no further problems. Using RB 0.58 and CCE Basic 2.69 Retail and everything is fine. jdobbs has done a great job of updating Rebuilder.

brobear...are you still doing everything on one drive, or have you tried two drives now that v58 is out?

Gnomex...I would go along with what 6402 said about the software. When you get a general fault error it is usually a sign of a corrupt file. You can remove/install Decrypter, and if that doesn't help, you are either looking at a workaround using another program, or else a OS repair or fresh install. You might try doing a system file check before the fresh install.

Yes. Haven't taken the time to check since .58 came out, I'm thinking hardware conflicts. Still a possibility of soft, so I'll check it later.

You could put the programs on your E: drive since you seem to have room there.

Update you guys on the DVDRB 0.58. I tried it with CCE SP 2.67.00.27. It works.

That's good to know since I may be getting my old copy back, at least for a while. It seems that my former workplace has a copy nobody is using right now, and my old supervisor may let me use it if I backup some of his movies for him.

    Hmm...

Never considered that. That test will have to wait until I have a little time to work with.

    [bold] RE: #0003 ERRORS[/bold]

I may have stumbled upon something... ...I just installed RB .58 (with CCE Basic), and sent a Remake Pro edited movie through in 1-click mode. I got the #0003 error at the beginning of the Rebuild stage. I checked the RB config file, and it was normal. So, I changed things back to the .57/CCE Basic setup ... which has always worked for me.

I was about to erase all the files and start over, when I wondered what would happen if I went to 3-click mode, and tried to manually initiate the Rebuild step with .57. Well, it started, finished, went through Nero, and I now have a perfect backup.

I've not read where anyone has tried to manually finish the Rebuild process after getting the #0003 error, and so I'm thinking this may be a workaround solution to the #0003 error. While I did the Rebuild with .57, I'm thinking .58 would have worked just as well.

[bold]EDIT:[/bold] This theory turned out to be false as indicated in a few posts down from here. I am leaving this post here in case anyone wonders if it is possible to manually over-ride the #0003 error.
