    That just might be your problem. Burners haven't been around very long and as a result the older the standalone player the more likley it is that it won't be compatible with burned DVDs(DVDR+/-). Try it in a player that was made within (not sold) in the past two years and you'll find that the more recent it is the more compatible it is. The good news is that the price of DVD players have come down a lot recently.

    Just a dumb question about Rebuilder and CCE. I've used Rebuilder+CCE for the first time and 95% of the way through the encoding process the program started spitting out at a very fast pace many 35Kb M2v files. This went on for some time. Is this normal?? The working directory already had some M2v files but of a much larger file size. I finally stopped the operation thinking rebuilder went into some kind of endless loop.

    Thank you

    The structure of some DVDs causes DVD-RB to create a lot of very small segments. It's not guaranteed that this is what happened, but it's possible. You should start by trying to play 1 or 2 of the small M2V files. If you determine that there's something wrong with them you should check the "source" files. For each M2V file there should be another file with an AVS extension. These are the AviSynth scripts that frameserve the video to CCE, and you can play them in a media player. If you try playing them in Windows Media Player and it doesn't recognize the file type (I've seen this but don't know what causes it as it should see them as AVI files) you can download Media Player Classic and it should play them.

    You probably ran into an area that had a lot of stills (you see that a lot in VTSs containing extras) -- its normal.

    What's the situation with Avisynth 2.5.5? Because I've been getting flawless results with RB/CE+Avisynth 2.5.4 I've been reluctant to switch to 2.5.5. Has anyone run into problems using the latest version?

    Was there any type of improvement from the 2.5.4 to the 2.5.5?

    By the way, I finally stopped having that weird problem of being stuck on one drive or get 0003. I'm happy to say I have good news. Somewhere down the line my multiple drive problem has been solved. You may remember that for some unexplained reason, I had to have all the program folders on one drive or the program locked in the rebuild stage with the 0003 Overflow error. A version or so back, I tried again with the same result. I just did a reformat and with the new setup and the improved .63 version I decided to try multiple HDs again. It worked this time.

    The only changes were a partition to the C drive which now reads as C and D. The large 250 GB WD drive is now the Primary and the 80 GB WD is now E. The program was on C, the source on E and the working file on D. The OS is the XP via XP Pro and the SP2. The program worked flawlessly and I got an excellent backup at 4.34 GB in size. That was with GoldenEye with all extras from the Collector's Edition. Now I'm an even happier camper than before. I believe the program authoring by jdobbs probably has more to do with my final success than any of the changes I made. Now if multi angle support is incorporated, I can "have my cake and eat it to".

    Thanks jdobbs for such a good app and to those who helped me get it going.

    I've got a question. Why run a finished RB file through a transcoder program to burn? Most of the burning ROMs are the best solution. I use Nero Express as my favorite.

    Hi Guys

    I have been trying to back up my copy of band of brothers dvd. There are six discs, each has two episodes on.Discs 5 & 6 don't seem to copy properly, one episode on each comes out grainy, the first on disc 5 and the second on disc 6. I am using cce sp 2.5, rebuilder 0.54 and nero 6.3.1.2. I havn't had any problems until now. I did have xp service pack 2 on, but I have removed that. I copied the dvds onto my hard drive using dycrypter and they played ok on there, they seem to go grainy when I compress them.
    I tried the original dvd through shrink but it came up with an error saying invalid dvd navigation structure. Could it be the original dvd are corrupt? Though like I said they do play ok on my dvd player and through the dycrypter files on my hard drive (which are about 7.5gig). Any ideas?

    First of all post a copy of your Configuration Settings folder. It opens in Notepad so just copy and post. Put Xs for any material that links to you personally, don't delete any files or supply an incomplete file. This is for checking your structure which lets us know a lot of how the app can function.

    BTW, you should be upgrading your programs as much as possible. At least the latest version of rebuilder should be in use. Plus, what version of AviSynth are you using and what version of the mpeg plugin?

    You wouldn't have "Steal Space from Extras" selected would you? That would do exactly what you've indicated. DVD-RB assumes the largest VTS is the movie and all others are extras. On series discs that could lead to low bitrates for all but one (or two) of the episodes.

    Corrupt data, or the inability to read the data, can cause the invalid DVD navigation error. Decrypter is often better at decryption than Shrink, and this is why you were likely successful. I have also found situations where Smartripper was better than Decrypter.

    jdobbs,
    I noticed some changes in the file versions used for RB. Is there any difference in using AviSynth 2.54 and 2.55? I saw another version of AviSynth can be used, which is best or are they all equal?

    This is what I found in my config file
    [Options]
    AudioDub=0
    idct7Opt=1
    CCE=0
    LoadPlugin=1
    ConvertToYUY2=1
    HalfExtras=1
    ReduceOpt=2
    OneClick=1
    Completed=6
    [Paths]
    CCE250=E:\dvd\EclCCE.exe
    MPEG2DEC=E:\dvd\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll
    Source=E:\7-8\
    Working=E:\RIP\

    I will have a look for updates as I haven't done that for a while.

    I'm looking forward to an update to my guide saying DVD-RB handles ILVU and multiple angles. Any idea when that will be available for us to try out?
