    I may take less time to start over than to figure out the wrong turn made recently.
    Try uninstalling everthing then reinstall. Last resort is a Windows reload.

    Does anyone have any guidelines for tweaking the VBR-Bias and Qual_Prec settings in DVD-RB? I can't find anywhere on the forum where this is discussed.

    Does the type and length of movie affect these settings?

    When it comes to reinstalling CCE, last time I tried that I uninstalled via Add/Remove Programs but left the other files in the CCE directory (i.e. eclcce.*) that the windows uninstaller left there.

    I searched the registry and removed any references I could find but there didn't look to be anything of interest.

    Is there anything I missed? Am I destined to reformat?? I actually just finished doing that and really don't want to again. Thanks...

    Here's a copy and paste from a guide, I'm no expert myself just happened to have the info handy:

    VBR_Bias controls how CCE distributes the bitrate. During the first CCE pass, the bitrate is distributed to achieve constant quality. The bias determines how much weight is given towards keeping that allocation. High values prevent high bitrate fluctuations in between GOPs, and low values give CCE more freedom to use bits in highly demanding areas

    Quality_prec corresponds to Image Quality Priority in CCE 2.50, and Quantizer characteristics in CCE 2.66/2.67. The value ranges from 0 - 64 (as in CCE 2.66+), but is scaled to 0-100 when using CCE 2.50 (so if you're a CCE 2.50 user and have set this parameter to X, you have to enter X*64/100 in DVD-RB). This setting determines if CCE gives priority to image details, or evenly colored areas. The lower the value, the more priority will be given to details, which could result in blockyness or banding in other areas. A high value will result in good looking evenly colored areas, but could result in edge artifacts.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi everyone, I have a question about CCE, when i use CCE Basic and RB I noticed that everytime CCE starts on a new .avs file it resets the "Priority" in Windows Task Manager from "High" to "Normal". I have 2 questions,
    One, does CCE perform its job faster if i put the "Priority" to "High"?

    If so, how do I set CCE Basic so that its priority stays on "High" for the whole encoding process?

    Thanks,
    Pop Smith

    Using High priority instead of Normal will probably only net you about a 1%-2% speed increase. Even in Idle priority (which is how I run it) you shouldn't notice a real speed difference.
    The key to changing CCE's priority is to set the priority of DVD-RB. Whatever priority DVD-RB is running at will be the priority CCE is started with. The easiest way to do this is to start DVD-RB with a batch file. The batch file would look something like this:

    start /high Rebuilder.exe

    Put that batch file in the same directory as DVD-RB, and run it instead of running DVD-RB directly.

    Just to add to this a little bit, I usually keep DVD-RB's default setting of 16 since that's the value I normally use for manual encoding anyway. One major exception is animated movies, which tend to have a lot more solid surfaces that benefit from raising this number. I normally use 20 for animation. If you're using CCE Basic make sure you have version 2.69 because you can't change this setting on older versions.

    Since VBR Bias isn't user accessible in CCE Basic, I don't worry about that setting.

    I'm trying to make sense of some RB-CCE results, and I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? I just ran Jerry MaGuire and the second to last scene and last scenes have jerky video as played from my HDD...not the backup DVD on my player. The Decrypted file, as well as a Remake Pro file, play fine from the HDD. I ran the Decrypted file with RB v66a, v65, and v56. All produced the same jerky video. I then decided to run it through DVD2One, and the video was fine.

    If anyone has Jerry MaGuire in their backup collection, it is the scene where MaGuire, wife, and son are walking through the park at about 2:12 play time.

    I'm not sure that I have that particular DVD but I'll see if I can get it for a deal and give it a try. Did you try and rip the movie over again using Decrypters aggressive settings? Better still, try and rip it with Shrink and see what happens.

    I did end up ripping twice, but didn't have trouble either time. Also, the Decrypter file played fine, so it didn't occur to me to try another rip setting. Since the DVD2One backup plays fine it seems unlikely that anything is wrong with the source Decrypter file, but I could give different settings a try after I finish a Batch job.

    I posted here awhile back but it seems I've come across a new problem here. I wished I had snapshot the error message but it read something like this error 00000XXA, something similar to that. The DVD I'm working on is The Godfather I, being that they are ranging from 170 minutes each, I am running a 10 pass encode.

    Here is my RB setup...

    [Paths]
    CCENEW=C:\Program Files\DVD Tools\DVD Rebuilder\EclCCE.exe
    MPEG2DEC=C:\Program Files\DVD Tools\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll
    Source=Z:\(DVDR) THE GODFATHER\
    Working=Z:\(DVDR) THE GODFATHER DVDRB\
    [Options]
    LoadPlugin=1
    BackColor=14737632
    RemoveDTS=1
    AudioDub=0
    idct7Opt=1
    CCE=1
    OneClick=1
    Completed=1
    AVSFilter01=Undot().Deen()
    [Setup]
    Languages=1111111111111111111111110111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
    [CCEOptions]
    VBR_bias=25
    Quality_prec=16
    eclPasses=10

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Here is a snapshot of the error message...

    @HKT, in the CCE Manual, it states that you won't gain anything from anymore then 4 passes, and the industry standard is 2 passes, so the 10 passes you are doing is a waste of time, try 2 passes and see if it comes up with the same error (it should, but, you never know)

    [bold]AVSFilter01=Undot().Deen()[/bold]

    Try removing the filters from avisynth and 10 passes is a waste of time.

    I've also noticed that you're still using MPEG2Dec3dg.dll which has been replaced with DGDecode.dll.

    In fact my advice would be to delete your inf file, update to the DGDecode.dll which is extracted from DGMPGDec formerly known as DVD2avi, and then redo your setup as per Vurbals guid here at AD. You can download DGMPGDec from here:http://www.doom9.org/

    Okay I ran a 2 pass encode and the error still came up, I'll run it again without the filters. If it works with the filters disabled, how can I get it to work properly? I'll keep you guys posted. Much appreciated for the help.

    Before you get started download the latest version of RB .66a and the latest version of avisynth. Then delete MPEG2Dec3dg.dll which has been replaced with DGDecode.dll.

    Read my previous post for the link to the new dll its extracted from DGMPGDec. Delete your inf file (its the notepad file in your RB folder). Sometimes it's better to start over which is also a good time to update,

    [problem about the size that bigger than 4.7GB]
    [DVD-ReBuild 0.66 + CCE-SP 2.50 with eclCCE.exe]

    Hi everyone
    I was happy using DVD Shrink until I read about DVD-RB.
    So last 2 nights and days I have been reading all discussion about the DVD-RB and Cinemacraft from this cite and from doom9.org.

    I did everything as instruction says but I still get
    large VIDEO_TS folder that can't fit in DVD5.

    I'm using latest DVD-RB 0.66 and CCE-SP 2.50 Trial with eclCCE.

    this is my rebuilder.ini
    [bold]
    [Options]
    OneClick=0
    NoWarn=0
    AudioDub=0
    idct7Opt=1
    Skin=Windows Standard
    RemoveDTS=1
    CCE=1
    AdditionalOutput=1
    Completed=1
    [Paths]
    CCE250=C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\Cinema Craft Encoder SP\cctsp.exe
    MPEG2DEC=C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll
    Source=F:\VIDEO_TS\
    Working=D:\ASD\
    Output=D:\ASD\
    CCENEW=C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\Cinema Craft Encoder SP\EclCCE.exe
    [CCEOptions]
    VBR_bias=25
    Quality_prec=16
    eclPasses=2
    [/bold]

    In mode menu, below selections are checked:
    CCE Mode
    Verbose Status Window
    Dynamically Assign Cell Bitrates

    In Option menu,
    AVS Option->Convert to YUY2 selected
    CCE Option->CCE SP selected. (not CCE SP 2.50, because I'm using eclCCE.exe as instructor says )

    First, I used DVD Shrink to get rid of all menus and extras and all languages and captions except English and set no compression on video, then created ISO file.

    All process's go very well, no error, no problem.
    Only after long conversion, my newly created VIDEO_TS folder size is bigger than 4.7GB.

    This is the log after 1st prepare:
    [bold]
    [15:08:13] Phase I, PREPARATION started.
    - VTS_01: 2,458,980 sectors.
    -- Scanning and writing .D2V file
    -- Processed 151,441 frames.
    -- Building .AVS and .ECL files
    - Reduction level for DVD-5 90.2%
    - Overall Bitrate : 5,302Kbs
    - Space for Video : 4,087,996KB
    - HIGH/LOW/AVERAGE Cell Bitrates: 5,674/4,373/5,302 Kbs
    [15:13:20] Phase I, PREPARATION completed in 5 minutes.
    [/bold]

    The resulted VIDEO_TS folder is more than 5GB.

    So please experts help me. I did everything correct as you see above.

    What went wrong?
    Sorry about long post but I've tried to give detailed info as much as possible.

    Thanks for folks doing this program and running this forum and giving answers to people like me.

    @ Sophocles

    Just this morning I updated DVDRB to the latest version which was released today. Also got a hold of the DGDecode.dll and used it and I the program has being going solid for the past 3 & 1/2 hours and with the pass almost done I received the same error again. I'll delete the .inf file, as well as the AviSynth program to the latest build and start from scratch and keep everyone posted.

    Also I have a question, I have my HD split up. Would this have a negative effect if the file being worked on is on a seperate partition than DVDRB?

    Okay here is an update, updated all programs and the directories are as they should be with the latest software of DVDRB & AviSynth. I chose I 3 pass encode to see if it'll encode correctly and I came across this error.

    That means you have a problem with your .AVS file. The 764x56 output is AVISYNTH trying to output the error message in a video window. Use Windows Media Player and open the .AVS file directly -- it will tell you which line in the .AVS file is causing the error.

    @davak, you only completed the first phase, you have to do the "encode" phase to compress the VideoTS folder (and files) to a Blank DVD-/+R
