    As I noted, the rebuilder Configuration Settings file would be helpful in diagnosing problems. Try including that along with the ini file. BTW, the installer doesn't work with all versions of CCE or at least that was what I heard just recently. Rockas mentioned he didn't have all the CCE versions to work with. You can check at http://www.dvdrebuilder.com to get more info on what's covered.

    well... the installer is supposed to work with all versions of CCE... and just can't check if I did it right or if there's any bug with any versions 'cause I simply can't test them :(
    anyway... all trial versions were tested and work fine and 2.50 if fine too... my doubts resides of Retail versions (as you may imagine) :)

    Sometimes redoing your setup is all that's needed. I ran into a problem back in June of 2005 and instead of geting frustrated I reinstalled everything and then tried again with success. I've gone through most of 2 X 100 spindles of DVD+R media without incident, all near perfect encodes.

    Why did I continually succeed when so many others failed? It's simple, details, details, and paying attention to details again and again.. I've also discovered that some answers comes as a surprise, such as fragemented hard disks, or a corrupted operating system, avisynth versions and an occassional RB bug that jdobbs usually rushed to correct.

    If you're patient, and you start out with an analytical approach, then you'll beat it and you'll return here to help others do the same.

    Good luck!

    Just a question or two. Most of the RB problems we've had a lot of problems with came from trials. Does the installer install the eclCCE and set the path to operate the CCE apps or is that the responsibility of the user? (RB set to eclCCE and eclCCE set to the CCE version.) That's not common info in the guides and all too often users try to install the trial without the eclCCE. With the SP 2.70 Trial that isn't a problem. Other than cracks, I can't see anyone wanting to use the older versions requiring all the additional setup. The other question involves cracked apps. A lot of people are trying to use those. Doesn't that pose a problem with setup as well?

    I seem to recall Rockas stating that the user still had to make appropriate selections during setup. There's no question that trial versions caused the majority of problems we've tried to resolve on this thread. The greatest degree of successes seems to be with those who used CCE Basic retail versions.

    After spending months with this thread I've learned that there will always be problems using RB/CCE. How can jdobbs possibly keep up with all the different CCE versions when CCE comes with changed requirements with each new release. jdobbs can't afford to purchse and own each version and I'm certain that the CCE people won't freely supply them to him.

    Well enough babbling for now. What I would like to say is "people get your versions and other info regarding your setup strait before asking for help."

    I was just wondering about that eclCCE setup with rockas' installer. Even with the installer, the programs would have to be installed to their default folder positions, no variations allowed. Then eclCCE could be installed with the paths preset. I was just wondering if that is what happens or if the user already has to have the eclCCE installed.

    As far as the versions, with an account with Cinema Craft Technology, one can access some of the older versions of an app as well as the new updates. As I noted, if one has the dongle and the acct info, the new SP is usable and an update, not a new program. Same goes for Basic, if you own it, you can access different versions on the site and get the updates. jdobbs has done a great job of incorporating the varying settings of the different versions. Plus, he quickly had the RB adjusted to use the new SP trial which will make the beginners task easier (for those wanting to sample the program before buying software).

    brobear: "Try not to do as Fullasoul and give a Trial path and then say it's retail or vice versa."

    As much as I appreciate your assistance, brobear, I would prefer you stop trying to paint me out as some deceptive pirate on this issue. Funny how someone else understood quite clearly that my dilemma was simple....I use 2.67 (which I paid good money for, which only makes your insinuations that much more unwarranted)..and I'm COMFORTABLE with 2.67. 2.70 has a totally different layout (you ARE aware of that aren't you?), and I can't really be bothered to mess with it just yet. I quickly installed a trial of 2.70 just to see if it would fix my issues with DVD-RB.

    No need for you to continue to try and prove to me how "right" your recommendations to reinstall everything were, since it proved to be something you hadn't thought of. I said repeatedly that I did indeed follow the guide to the letter, and I tried with various configurations and software versions. While I'm sure you guys get your share of newbies that don't listen to your advice, I was one of the ones who WAS listening to you, and thus shouldn't have been chastised repeatedly.

    Once again, thank you for the assistance...

    You were the one who posted the conflicting info. Donald pointed it out before I came back on to respond. As I said, I could care less, but at least get the configuration settings for the app being discussed. You're the one said I was wrong after it clearly stated in your path that you had a trial. In other words your ambiguous statements were leading to confusion and I wasn't the only one who noticed.

    As jdobbs pointed out, the settings vary according to the CCE version being used. (Luckily he has the necessary settings incorporated into RB, so settings in CCE don't need to be altered.) Plus you picked up unneeded baggage along the way. There was a number of paths to various encoders in the configuration. One encoder per RB setup. As pointed out Decomb is not normally needed and the path should only be set when needed. So what was wrong with what I pointed out? Also, I was agreeing with other members that a complete install clears up a lot of problems, I wasn't the one who first brought it up. I still agree it solves a lot of problems in a lot of cases. Nothing changed on that.

    As far as 2.70 SP trial being different from 2.67 retail, explain the difference, especially as far as RB is concerned. If you're saying the layout of 2.70 retail and 2.67 SP retail are different, I couldn't tell it and from your admission, you haven't tried it to know. I'd like to point out 2.70 trial is more like the retail than the previous trial versions that required eclCCE. In fact one only needed to reset the Quality Prec settings and they could set it up under the regular CCE settings in pre RB 72 versions. jdobbs included settings for SP 2.70 trial starting in v72.

    So as far as RB is concerned, very little difference between 2.67 retail and 2.70 trial. One can read the differences at the CCE site, but the differences don't affect RB. I tried the trial shortly after it came out and before RB 72. I got excellent results and the only annoyance was the big blue CCE logo on the video. So, I know how to set up the program and get it right; taking into to account the differences between it and 2.67. BTW, as I mentioned, 2.70 is an update, not a new program. The site states it uses the same HASP dongle as 2.67. I still don't understand why you want to use a trial when the regular retail is available and there's no real difference in the setup. In fact it would have been easier to access your CCE acct with your serial and password than to create the new acct to get the trial download. As I said, your business on that one. You can have multiple versions of CCE on a PC at the same time. You just don't use them at the same time.

    Why then didn't your configuration setting look like the one I supplied for you than one full of unnecessary commands, a combo for multiple encoders in fact. I'd say part of that probably came from the auto installer, but nevertheless it was in there. If one followed Vurbal's guide here at AD, the configuration setting would have looked like the one I supplied. It works and I've been using RB/CCE for some time now.

    And from my small library of configuration files, here's one supplied for the 2.67 retail. Here's what one should look like that works. It does a complete English DVD and is set to 4 passes.

    [Options]
    CCE=1
    OneClick=1
    NoWarn=1
    idct7Opt=1
    AudioDub=0
    Skin=Windows Standard
    Completed=57
    [CCEOptions]
    VBR_bias=25
    Quality_prec=16
    eclPasses=4
    [Paths]
    CCENEW=C:\Program Files\Cinema Craft Encoder SP v2.67.00.27\cctsp.exe
    Source=D:\ENTER_THE_DRAGON\VIDEO_TS\
    Working=E:\ENTER_THE_DRAGON_RB\
    MPEG2DEC=C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\DGDecode.dll
    Output=E:\ENTER_THE_DRAGON_RB\
    [Setup]
    Languages=1111111111111111111111110111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
    sLanguages=1111111111111111111111110111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
    [Audio]
    Selected=11101

    That looks a lot different than the one you presented or presented for 2.70. You had a trial path with a retail version exe file. Therein lay some more confusion. You see, I've seen enough of these files to be able to see when things don't look right.

    If you notice I said in part I was agreeing with what was said by others. Even if your problem was different, that doesn't change the validity of what was said. Since different problems cause the same symptoms, it's only common sense to realize there will be different solutions sometimes. BTW, what was it we hadn't thought of and what did you do to resolve your problem? Is the program working properly now? If so, supply the working configuration settings so we can see part of what you changed.

    I wasn't chastising you and as I said, what you are doing is your own business. All I wanted was to see the actual files being used for the application being discussed and the one you wanted to use. Somewhere along the line you confused the setup as shown by your previous posts in the thread. What I was finding most troublesome was trying to help with confusing data being supplied.

    Well... my installer detects if there's a commercial Encoder installed on the system (CCE and/or ProCoder).
    If none is found user will get a message to warn him about this.
    After that EclCCE will be or not be installed depending of what version (2.50, 2.66, 2.67, 2.70 and Trial or Retail) user chooses, as well as the pathes on Rebuilder.
    Something like this:

    CCE 2.50 - EclCCE will be installed on the folder where CCE is installed and the path on Rebuilder will point to Eclcce.exe);

    CCE Basic Retail - no EclCCE

    CCE Basic Trial - will be detected but no EclCCE (don't think it's supported)

    CCE 2.66/2.67 Retail - no EclCCE

    CCE 2.66/2.67 Trial - EclCCE will be installed on the folder where CCE is installed and the path on Rebuilder will point to Eclcce.exe);

    CCE 2.70 trial/retail - no EclCCE... it isn't needed

    The problem with hacked and/or Cracked versions is that sometimes the registry values aren't set... so it is possible that the installer doesn't detect it.
    Now there has been reported problems with those versions when working with Rebilder... nothing to do there ...

    On ProCoder it's easier, 'cause users just have to choose the right version and everything will be right on place.

    I will release, later on, a new version of my installer with some updates in the help files and RBOpt 0.25... but I also improved the detection rules of CCE.

    Anyway... everithing is explained on the Installer itself... but sometimes people just don't read any info :)

    As long as there's no submissions about wrong definitions with the installer, I'm pretty sure I can say that if people uses it the right way (following the instructions) there will be no problems... the only doubts, as I said before, resides on the Retail versions (I can't buy them all).

    anyway... if there are any doubts I'll be here to clarify them :)

    I downloaded the new version of Rebuilder 0.72 and am using the retail version of CCE. When I try to Transcode it only goes part of the way then I get a "Buffer Overflow" error. How do I fix this?

    Thanks,

    You're right on the Basic trial. It's unusable with RB. It is limited to just a few minutes output, so it is useless.

    I've just released a new version of my installer - v.0.72(C).

    0.72(C) Changelog:

    1. Help files updated

    2. Last release of EclPRO (v.0.25)

    3. Improved CCE's detection routine:
    "This wizard will automatically search the path to you CCE’s copy. If you have more than one version installed on your system, it’s possible that the chosen default path doesn’t refer to the version you want to use.

    The search will be made following this order:

    1 s t CCE Basic - 2 nd CCE Basic Trial - 3 rd CCE SP Retail – 4 th CCE SP Trial - 5 th CCE SP 2.50

    This means that if CCE Basic is detected, the path to it will be displayed as default on “CCE’s path definition” window. If it isn’t, wizard will search for CCE Basic Trial, if not detected, will search for CCE SP Retail and so on….

    Keeping this in mind, don’t forget that if the wizard detects CCE basic but you want to use CCE SP Trial, you’ll have to define the path to it manually.

    DON’T FORGET TO PICK THE CORRECT VERSION ON THE WINDOW CREATED FOR THAT PURPOSE "

    4. Installer routine fully translated to Portuguese and Italian (thanks to RebuMan)

    I think that's all...

    Hi all,

    I have done what I said, starting with stripping my PC back of programes, defraging and starting from scratch with the installer v72b,

    I have no idea which change made the difference but it has finaly worked. I still believe that it may hav been something I had on my PC, as I had done the other things such as Defrag and reinstall a number of times before, with no help.

    So now I will replace my programes one by one to see which affects the function of any of the related Rebuild software.

    One thing that I did find however, which may or may not have anything to do with my problem, was that I had a large ini, file from Win XP hibernate, which was hindering a correct and full Defrag. The file can be larger than 500mb, and will interfere with any defrage completing correctly. Although I had done mine more than once, it was still fragmented. Hibernate must be disabled under power settings to remove this file.

    Thats the only oddity other than removing all my programes.

    Ill get back to you if something comes up as I reinstall everything I removed.

    PS, I have now tried it with CCE SP 2.50 and also the retail Basic 2.69 I got, I could see no difference in the Quality. Should Basic 2.69 be giving me a better image? If even only slightly?

    Under Options, in Setup, select "All" in the Audio Streams to Remove and in Subpictures to Remove and then go in and deselect the English and Spanish to keep and select Save. That way you always keep only the Spanish and English sound and subtitles. Easy to change any time you want.

    I recall when using DVD Shrink some months back to remove subtitles, sometimes removing say...french or spanish, it wouldn't allow the english subtitle to be played back properly. Does this error occur at all in DVD-RB, could be useful saving a few MBs here and there. ;-)

    You have the steal space option for getting a bit more space for the main movie. The Audio and subtitles are set to English only in my setup. I've not suffered any problems. The built in subtitles made into the movie come through as well. One could eliminate the subtitles altogether if no hearing impaired will be viewing.

    0.72(D) Changelog:

    This one as only a small change to correct the Work path and Output path insertion on Rebuilder - the missing "\" will appear now... I hope

    Hello everybody,

    Thank you to jdobbs for creating DVD Rebuilder, which is really great, and to all seniors here that reply to newbies like me.

    First of all, everything works fine 95% of the time.

    But I recently experienced difficulties to back up a dvd with correct subtitles.

    Let me briefly explain : I'm backing up a 6-dvd TV serie. It comes with English, French and Spanish audio tracks, and a lot of subtitles. I want to keep only English audio and English and French subs.
    I first ripped them with Decrypter (whole DVD) then have them processed with DVD Rebuilder (default configuration).

    Everything worked perfectly for dvd 2 to 5, but DVD 1 and 6 presented problems : English audio track was ok, but they were no subs at all.

    I tried processing them again while leaving ALL subs on, but same result.

    As an alternative, I used CloneDVD to keep what I wanted and create a DVD-9, and then re-run this newly created folder with DVD Rebuilder. Audio and subs were then fine, but I have doubt about image quality...

    Any idea ? What is wrong ? DVD structure is different ? Decrypter did not rip properly ?

    Funny clue : on the first DVD, when I read the ripped folder with PowerDVD, there's a trailer, the logo of Buena Vista and an animated menu before reaching the main menu. After processing with DVD Rebuilder, it goes directly to the selection menu (Episode, Setup, Play All) without logo, trailer and animation... And on the 6th dvd, there are only 2 episodes plus bonuses. So 1st and 6th differ from 2nd to 5th.

    Tell me if you need more info, and thank you in advance for your answers ! :)
