if I'm way off forum topic, please redirect me. I use plextor for burning with my mac (and mtr and dvdonex) and the plextor is drving me nuts, won't read media, won't recognize a dvd in its drive, yada yada on and on..lately nothing will burn no matter what media..could folks share what external burners they are using with their macs?I have a feeling I'll be in the market...

have a an external lacie burner. you can buy it either at www.apple.com or www.lacie.com. It reads and writes every form of media including double layer discs and it comes with the full version of roxio toast. u have the choice of the regular burner or the one with light scribe.

I use NEC-3520a's in Lacie D2 firewire cases. I've flashed the NEC-3520a's so they are region free and the riplock is removed.

thank you, excellent. Plextor agreed today that my drive is dead and they'll replace it (warranty) but this is very good to know--bound to need a replacement sooner or later.
    thanks!!
