I have recently copied my hdd to a wd passport external drive.I had a start up problem with my pc, the pc is now fine after I had it fixed. I have taken all the data I need from the the external drive. now I need to completely erase this drive so I can use it again.Im new at all this so I was wondering how I set about this.Do I need a software programme, if so what do you recommend, and how to use it. Any help much appreciated. If there is a thread running on this please point me in that direction.

No extra software needed. Turn on the external, go to My Computer, right click on the external, and select Format.
