I am capturing a few old laserdiscs, and am trying to extract the closed captioning information with ccextractor. I captured to lossless (lagarith) AVI files at full 720x480 @ 29.97 FPS. I'm using an older WinTV PCI card with the bt878 chip.

The capture seems to be perfect, but ccextractor detects no captions at all. I haven't deinterlaced or anything. I used the raw capture output file. The disc definitely has captions, as my TV decodes them if I play the laserdisc directly.

Any ideas what's going on? Thanks!

Here's a sample screen from the raw capture output. The quality should easily be good enough to detect the captions, no?

EDIT: After a bit of searching, I found that I need to capture at 720x486 because 720x480 cuts off the line 21 data. I am now doing so, but still am not able to extract any captions.
