I would love to go to the States to see F1. I do not fancy being humiliated by customs, and have to wait for hours to get in. A friend recently visited the states, he is a white Yorkshire man. Customs & immigration made him feel unwanted, humiliated & he has vowed never to return.
Us Brits have stuck with you guys through thick & thin, & your administration makes us out to be terrorists. I thought we had a "special" relationship with you? I went to the States in '90. I loved the place & the people.
Then again, our government treats all of us Brits as we were terrorists, planning to strip us of our civil liberties. Giving the police overwhelming powers.
Back to the topic. Good to see Ferrari getting their arses kicked. Nice that Renaults did well & Red Bull too.
Ecclestone can be a thorn in the side at times, some of the rules are daft. 1 engine, 2 races? Is this becoming endurance racing? Thank God the Engineers (most of the chiefs are Brits. Pat Symonds, Ross Braun (?), Patrick Head, Mike Gascoyne) are very good at their jobs. . The only thing german about the Mercedes engine is the badge. All the engines I believe are made by Judd (British) Would be nice to see a mixture of winners. Ferrari domination has, for me, spoiled the sport. Not their fault though!

    Yes good point!
Apparently they can come in and change 1 tire at any time, no questions asked; strange eh?
@Pulsar, YES U.S. Customs is fooked up lately - it's a big shame but trust me, you don't wanna go there anyway if you can help it (no offense Darth).
They are too paranoid, and xrays & rectal inspections are bad for you ;-)
If Darth or anyone comes to Montreal in June, to our National Park in the middle of the mighty St. Lawrence River, you will see a spectacular show, and from close-at-hand too.
I went to the first USGP at Speedway Indiana in 2000, and never got closer than a furlong from the cars...
And the mighty sound that echoes through Isle Notre-Dame just kinda evaporates at Indy ;-(
In Montreal the cars pass 8 feet away, with a shock of air like a subway train.
Darth you & Herbs need to come up here!
Michael was lucky the Williams ran into him or he would've finished last, LoL :)

They cant touch the tires at all throughout the race, apart from take readings like pressure and heat etc..
unless you mean if a tyre is damaged?
Im not 100% clear yet with this new rule.. What if it starts raining, can they change to wets? then what if it stops raining can they change again?
Should be good to see as the season unfolds..

wow, forgot all about this thread......and the season has started..................brummm brummm......

    Greetings fellow F1 junkies............

Yep, schuey got a little taste of his own medicine....nice to see at long last (thats a good comment, considering I am a Ferrari fan...LOL).
But Rubens carried the flag for us....nice one RB.....

Have to agree with everyones views on the Renault and Red Bulls performances, truly outstanding.......

These new rules are really gonna split the fields up now, especially with the tyre situation.
I just REALLY hope there is not a bad accident as a result of it (still with all the monitoring that is done, hopefully will not happen)

I do reckon that the Renaults are gonna be up there throughout, as it seems they have always had the best car when it comes to tyre wear, and as we know the Renaults are lightining off the start, have good performance reliabilities and have a couple of 'fighting' spirited drivers aswell - a hunger level that I think far succeeds any other team at the moment.

I am going to be interested in Maclarens ability this season, as I think there will be some personal battles between KR an JPM which could spell bad news, but also provide us with some top quality racing....

I'm a Ferrari head , but really wanna see Button start the season well.
We'll see what the proper pace of all cars is next race ... if it doesn't rain ! : )

Also you'd imagine that have actually set certain rules for change of tyres if damaged etc [as was pretty vague at 1st race eh]

Rosco404 , good to see some Red Dwarf heads up in here (lol). You read the books man ? Well bloody funny I tells ya :c]-~

Nice one Renault! Ha Ha Ferrari! This season could turn out to be interesting. I find it interesting that Flavio Briatori (?) has quite an effect on the way a team performs, since he returned to Renault, it has got better & better.

I am really glad that other teams are catching up like Toyota & good to see McLaren too.

Yep, certainly looks like it is going to be interesting.

Man those Renault chaps have really got to grip with the revised format.............and showing the 'Top' boys exactly how it is done.

Did you see the condition of the Renaults tyres compared with the other cars..........they really know how to obtain max speed, and retain their grip.....

Nice to see the Toyota up there aswell, seems they have fooled alot of people with their excellent start to the season......another team on the up.

Loved Pedro De La Rosa's scraps......he really enjoyed that race today I think, and made great entertainment with his overtaking antics..........

Yes good old Ferrari, they really have their work cut out for the next 3 weeks until Imola, I hope they can get that 'Reliability' thang back.......don't think schuey has had reliability issues since way back in Hockenheim 2001, or maybe 2002.........

Still on a positive note, Rubens, was so 'laid back' during a pre race interview, and basically was racing to see how long the car lasted, well it just about lasted but was bad...................

Shame about Button though, I really think that Barichello should get a half decent car to do the job! I do not think that he realised you will ALWAYS be No 2 to Schumacher. Along with the No 2 car to boot. (Barichello has potential, I sometimes think that he is too nice to be a winner).
Eddie Ervine is proof of a No 2s position.
Saying that though, I never really rated him, (Irvine), as a driver, like Coulthard, Johnny Herbert, Thierry Boutsen, the list goes on. They are just not F1 champion material. People with pure talent are few & far between.
Button has great potential, Villeneuve needs a decent drive. Alonso & Trulli will become champs in the future.
All I can say is roll on Spa. THE race circuit to sort the men out from the boys! Eau Rouges is scary on a PS2, let alone real life, a long downhill, change of direction as well as a rapid change in gradient (bottom out suspension), up to a blind left hand brow of a hill (Release suspension - making steering & handling go light). G-Force ahoy! On body as well as suspension! My God what a circuit.

Oh to have a go in an F1 car.

    Never going to happen.

Yeah, everyone was righting him off, I was also not very confident.....

However, during a quick chat with Ross he stated about 'pulling a rabbit out of a hat'.............this made me wonder........
And sure enough, Schuey tore through the field..............outstanding...........

Good race from Alonso, and a great battle towards the end with Schuey..........except when ITV (UK) went to adverts with 4 laps to go - bastards.........and came back just for the last lap.
Then straight after the race, they re-run the last laps obviously admitting that they f..ked up............

Still, no getting away from the fact that Renault are the team of the moment, durability/reliability an outstanding setup.......Ferrari just didn't have the 'grunt' to topple them although their braking capability was excellent.

It seemed clear to me the raikonnen was on one, probably had the revs turned up, and roached his transmission.......just scuttled away, but I think he overdrove his car.........hopefully he will be more competitive in Barcelona................

Looking like a good season, Renault need to stoppped, c'mon Ferrari let's see Schuey start breeding rabbits and getting Rubinio up in the fight....................

    Jacques did well :^)
Ahead of both Toyotas, both Williams, both Red Bulls...
(We figure he's just warming up)
Yes I know, he warms up slowly ;^)
Ah well, one thing for sure - Montreal will be Sold Out in June, it'll be nuts.
The Frenchies will be out in droves!
Alonso looked pretty cool with The Michael up his butt.
You could tell he was entering corners really slowly, slowing Schumacher down... it worked!
Hey we pickup the ITV feed here in Canada too - what's with the weird audio breakup in the feed?
You can tell they're using wireless microphones and they just cut out now & then (regularly).
Man they better fix that. It's been going on for a long time (since last year?) It has gone beyond annoying and is now almost farcical.
Ahhh the latest technologies - they're great when they work, eh?
Good to see both Hondas finish the race, LoL :^)
Michael was fast but he's got his work cut out for him...
    L8R lads

Nascar is easily a better than F1. Don't get me wrong, the F1 cars are fast, cool looking and the drivers are talented, but the racing is very follow the leader. Which is why CART has struggled in the US. IRL has had good sucess due to the side by side racing and close finishes. Which is also what makes NASCAR so much better than F1. How offten do you see F1 cars going 185 mph bouncing off each other or the walls, as they win or lose the race by inches? For example, Ricky Craven and Kurt Bush at Dover 2 years ago. If you have never seen it, find a way to. Maybe the best finish ever in motor sports.

Each to their own I suppose.....................

    That is really funny..........LMAO..............

Maybe is because they know how to drive..................

I would like to know HOW they go into the walls, is it because they forget to tie the rope onto the steering wheel and then fall asleep...........LMAO

You may actually find that an F1 car is built for aerodynamics and not 'Death mode'.
If the NASCAR cars had F1 technology they would fall apart........

To drive NASCAR all you need is no brain and 'popeye arms'........

But everyone has the right to their own opinion right...........

Good point, I guess the Stock cars are a little plain. But I guess that is the point, thus the name STOCK CAR.
But my question would be, if the F1 drivers are so good, why do they build the cars to pretty much drive themselves?
Or if F1 divers are really that superior, why is it that Juan Montoya (considered to be on of the best right now if I not mistaken) Can run a lap at Indy (in a car he drives all the time) then let Jeff Gordon run the same car at the same track and have Jeff only be a second off his time? If F1 drivers are that much better, shouldn't someone who races the cars all the time blow a guy out of the water who has never been in a F1 car before???? I guess its just those Popyee arms.

guys you got to stop comparing nascar with F1, theyr totally diferent. its true F1 cars almost drive by themselves but i bet with my karting expirience i can be as fast as those guys in nascar, cause theres not much science in turning left, nascar may be more popular in the US, but F1 is the most seen in the world couse you really need skills to drive and to set up the car.
