Ahhh, Montreal in June - no place I'd rather be :^)
Where are you Baabaa (LoL, you still looking for a date or whatever?)
Nice fellow like you, likes cats, likes F1, you're perfect!
Don't worry, future Mrs. Baabaa looking for you too...
Hey wouldn't it be okay to look like David Coulthard? The ladies, the ladies (and, he's wealthy too).
My chubb hurts just thinkin' about it... (ahem).
So who do you like in Montreal, lads?
I tell ya, Ferrari is working day & night (Bridgestone too) and we have not yet seen their best this season. Too little too late?
Do you think Renault is invincible?
And Kimi - gotta watch McLaren in Montreal... can't wait.

LMAO........that'll be right, over here in the UK, so no real chance of me travelling there, however, looking at going to one this, afterall, being free and single means I should have some spare dinero knocking around to treat myself with..................

I heard a rumour that BAR are going to be the team to beat in Montreal........would be nice for them mix it up abit........
Kimi lost his head a little at the Nurburgring, did you see his wheel before the crash, man that must have been difficult to keep straight.......

Would be nice to see Ferrari start up, although they are making gradual improvements, but as you say, may just be a little too late.

Hopefully will be a good race, Montreal usually provides us with some good entertainment and slick racing.............

Alonso/Renault proved that it ain't over until you see the chequered flag.
Has he got enough to keep off Kimi, that is the question everyone is asking.............

Herbs, Darth, Baabaa - where are you guys?
(Is this forum not more important than a buncha n00bies whose audio does not synch, LoL :^)
    KIMI!
    USGP practice T-minus 30 minutes & counting...
I was happy to see Ferrari (and no Renault) on the podium in Montreal.
My sunburn is still very painful but I will have hundreds of AVI movies if I get skin cancer...
So who do you like, lads?
Hey, that Australian girl Kylie who is in the news (breast cancer I think), Jacques used to go out with her! Wow, she's really nice.
J.V. didn't do so well in Canada...

    What a complete fusk up.................

Geeze, I have never witnessed such a circus performance by everyone invloved.
I know the safety issue is the paramount problem, but wasn't that always the case since they introduced the 'no tyre' change rule.

They always new this type of situation was going to appear, and yet they do nothing............................

I understand the technical implications, and surely Michilen were aware of this situation well before the race (probably months)

Give em pitstops, give em all bridgestones, just do something positive to give us a race.
Sod the track mod, that changes everything, and suddenly brings all the Michilen runners back into the forefront and probably then disadvantages other drivers.......................

IMO, there really is no compromise, and Michilen should be held TOTALLY accountable, for which they should receive a VERY stiff penalty, because it looks like it may be curtains for the US Grand Prix............................

    Afterall Bridgestone don't have a problem.......why not?

Anyways, race is gonna kick off in a couple of mins so, who knows what is gonna happen.

One thing, Darthnip I think will be able to give us some 'trackside' comments upon his return............

    LMAO ;^(
Not really funny - it's pretty sad.
    Michelin has fooked up BIGtime.
That banked corner has been there since 1903... They cannot produce a tire that will steer a 1200-pound car around it safely?
Kinda harsh for the ticket-buying spectators, though.
Yeesh. There are gonna be lawsuits...

I know I fully support Ferrari and Schuey, but what a joke.......

At least Ferrari managed to get some points from it, afterall it was an official 'race'.

I heard several things, and 2 main things I keep hearing is:

Michelin had technical issues with the tyres (bad design etc)
    or
    Michelin brought the incorrect tyres

Don't know which comment is true.......................

I feel sorry for all those that paid, to see their fav teams/drivers to have a cracking race, and they got stiffed.
I wonder, were the majority of the spectators aware of this situation occuring on the day?

My gripe aswell, is why on earth did the teams go out to the grid, do the formation lap and then go into the pits..........thats like saying rubbing salt into the wounds..................
I know their hands were tied Michelin, and I can see some real reprisals coming out all of this...................

Still, they had plenty of time to compromise and resolve it, hell why didn't bernie ecclestone post here for an answer..........

A dark day for F1 and also dark for Indy, I hope it can be rectified, but I do fear that'll be the last time F1 will visit the states...........

Formula 1 lost a foothold today, and pretty much proved that this sport is now becoming a business enterprise rather than the sport we have all come to love.............................

my only comment is "what a complete crock of shit!"
yes they should have brought a better tire, but given the new rules about tire changes, provisions should have been made. Either give them the damn chicayne the wanted, or let them change the freakin tires! I am so pissed off because it took years for F1 to return to america, now we'll probably not get it back! I wish they would keep the competition on the track instead of with the damned ego's of the management.

    LoL - exactly, Baabaa :^)
I would have told him to allow all the teams (Bridgestone too) to change tires, and impose a penalty of 10 seconds onto each team that did.
This 10 seconds to be added to their race time would be reflected also in their grid-position to start the race (qual. time +10sec).
That would have made everyone happy, but made all the teams sufficiently displeased with Michelin to reinforce to them the fact that they fooked up.
Note: I am reading news reports everywhere that the FIA 'would not allow' the new tires flown in from France - this is not true.
The FIA said they are free to change tires for any good reason, but there would be a penalty to discourage this (unspecified).
They should have used new Michelins - the chicane thing was a bad idea IMO
    Lads?

im not sure which coverage you get in the states, but the commentators and teams inteviewed in the UK were extremly upset at was happened

they feel like they let the US down with this "display"

im not really sure what you guys in the US feel about F1, but in the UK i would say its taking a nose dive

is it a big sport over there? is there a large following?

it was developing into a bigger sport over here, nowhere near the following that shows in other parts of the world though. the sad thing is today farce probably just cost F1 a whole bunch of fans and future fans in this country. The die hard fans like myself dont really care, but the crowds over here can be a bit picky so you never know what will happen.

Everyone is having a go at Michelin, I do not think they are to blame. Tyre technology is, like all of F1, very demanding. Kimi found that out last week. I am not in favour of one set of tyres. Safety & reliability is a major issue.
The arguement that Bridgestone can do it, why can't they?, is irrelevant. That is playground talk & is far too simplistic.

The fine line these guys take is truly amazing. The new surface that was at Indy was too abrasive for the tyres that Michelin took. This was, I think, unforseen. The amount of wear, that is.
Bridgestone had the edge. That is racing.
I do not like that circuit. It is designed for different cars. F1 cars do not like in-field tracks. They need to be at a track like Spa, or the OLD Hockenheim. I do not like the "pandering" to audiences that this type of track does.
It is NOT Nascar or circuit racing. It is Formula one. It is the absolute pinnacle of motor vehicle racing/technology, reliant on brains, not brawn!

I would not run F1 at Indianapolis, it just does not lend itself to F1. Jean Todt is the spoilsport in my eye. I can see his side of the arguement. But at the end of the day people are there to race. It just shows how desperate it can get. It was an atypical modern solution, just think of the short term & to hell with the consequences.
He may have got the points, but at what cost? It was a major PR disaster for the whole sport. But what the hell, Ferrari got their points!
For the good of the sport there should have been a chicane from the start of practice. It would not have been the best solution, but at least there would have been a race.
I hope it is the last time they have the GP there. There must be a half decent track in the states somewhere?
The FIA all need rounding up & shooting. This was very easy to solve. But not half an hour before the race!

    Pulsar

Anyone catch the TT this year? That race sorts the men from the boys! Would love to see Rossi do a couple of laps!!

I must say to all you race fans in the US that you are very well behaved, if this had happened in Australia we would have torn the place down.

i was surprized that we didn't riot! If none of the cars would have went out then surely the fans would have destroyed something, hell during the late 80's and eartly 90's we used to set cars on fire for fun during the Indy500. There were a few that were throwing bottles and stuff, but nowhere near what i expected. i think it was the shock factor that kept everyone calm.

Michelin really screwed up - I guess the superior attitude of the Michelin teams ('looking down their noses' at the poor Bridgestone runners) has been tempered somewhat, heh? LoL :^)
Michelin "cannot guarantee the safety of the tires"...
More rubbish - they couldn't do that in Canada and they won't be able to in France either! You build the best tire you can, and can never guarantee that it will not go flat or explode (used to happen all the time).
But modern F1 is now so much more an endurance race! The tire mfgs must look at it like that.
To finish first, first you must finish...
But I still say the Michelin teams should've changed to whatever rubber they needed to run (even Bridgestones), accepted whatever penalty (who cares?) and then run.
Michelin says blah blah 'for safety', LoL - whatta joke.
If the fans sue IMS, then IMS sues the FIA, then the FIA sues Michelin - now we're gettin' somewhere.
Michelin has admitted the incompetence, and the financial ramifications could (should) be huge.
But the poor spectators! Man, I'm glad I didn't attend that race...
