i dont start many threads.. just contribute. i'm thinking of getting VPC7, but i wanted to get some feedback from you. the only reason i'm thinking of it is b/c there's a software by nextel, that requires pc. and of course.. dont have that junk.. doorstop. lol i really dont have any other software. one of my friends is also going to be using it.. he's the only that's actually going to use more. we're thinking of each paying half.. is there a way to install that on two machines with one copy? i really dont feel like spending $200 it. i figured it would be nice to have. i do have 1gb of ram... any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.
i have used it before but i hated it!!! it ran slow and it was a complete bitch to install. i know a lot of stuff about mac, beside burning and stuff. and it took be a week before i gave up and had some guy do it for me for 75 bucks. any way i didn't like it, but that was just me. i only have 512 ram so that may have been the problem for me and why nit didn't run so well. i would personly save up more $ and just buy a cheap pc.
VPC is software based emulation. SLOW!!!! Aside from the very basics (word processing, internet) there really isn't a use for it since you can get a cheap pc for about the same price or slightly more(without monitor of course) and most already come with xp. VPC is a program that you should buy if you need to open/work with a few pc apps that are not too processor-dependent, and you either don't have room for a pc, or you have a laptop that would make having xp convenient. Besides, I'm not sure if your app would work, since some apps have minimum processing requirements that vpc simply cant provide. Expensive experiment. the other thing is that the version of WinXP that comes with Virtual pc doesn't allow you to install on more than 1 computer and you need to authenticate your installation online within 30 days. just a comment/question: do you really need this Nextel app enough to spend this much? can't you just borrow a pc to use this app? You're right....it is nice to see winxp on your imac mini, but if you buy it, don't expect too much.
fry's has cheap pcs for about that price.. i may just have him get that. he just bought new imac.. didnt want another system. but with this.. its not worth it then..
i did hear about that.. didnt really read much about it... but will look into it and post what i find.
