I am interested in taking items from uTorrent and converting them into DivX and burning them. Is this FFDShow any use to me? What is it for?

    Thanks

In your case the only use it could be is for decoding.

ffdshow is a directshow and VfW wrapper for various open source (mostly libavcodec) media libraries.

It supports decoding and encoding a large number of formats, however it can encode via Xvid or libavcodec MPEG-4, but not DivX. Well ok it can output DivX 3.

It could also be of use for its post processing/filtering abilities which can be accessed via directshow, VirtualDub or AVISynth.
