For sure, I'd integrate the panasonic so I can continue to use its as a dvd player. Also, if there was something I was going to burn onto dvd (to post to a mate overseas) I'd record it to the panasonic. I gather you can't burn a dvd from the N*L + box.
yeah just gone for it myself too, only €95 for sky espn hd+ 15mb and phone with international calls and only €55 for the first 2 months, very impressed id always said when it became affordable id not mind paying so now it has i will quite happily pay lol (also helps that the boxes are knackered oh well free multiroom if someone hacks n3!!)!!
Was looking at the UPC broadband packages and noticed there 5mb is the same price as the old 3MB package I have, double checked and now I,m on the 5MB package per my bill but when I ran a speed check I,m still getting only 3MB, which I use to get when I speed checked it when I first got it, UPC do have decent broadband and I,m getting the same service as before but they shouldn;t be advertising new speeds if there just the same old packages with new names .. the "up to" phrase they use is so misleading.. I know when my Dad had the 10MB package he never got higher than 6MB so there new 15MB package which is just the old 10MB package is likely no where near that... I know your area has a lot to do with the speed you get in reality but 6MB versus an advertised 15MB is a bit much... Decent site below if you want to check your broadband speed. http://www.speedtest.pl/
Im fairly sure uve to reboot ur modem for the new speeds to take effect, calling them wouldnt be a bad idea either...
Mickah I think your missing the point that I am trying to make. I have upc in main room got two other boxes for the two young kids bedrooms upc charged me for the boxes (fair enough) but I had to take the ditigal package for both boxes and stil pay extra for the disney channels which was all I wanted for the rooms,Thats why i think there should be a kids package.plus the area Im in upc went of at least 5 times last year and they put the blame on the ESB power lines down.Wait until your downloading and everything goes.Thats all I saying its very annoying.
Im sorry but that doesnt make sense, surely either way ud be paying the same amount, if u dont want the other channels broadcast in the kids room then just block them through the menu. Also i can only remember one instance in my area last year when tv and broadband signal both went, maybe its just bad luck that wherever ur living went down...
Hi guys, does anyone have a problem with n*l when using ANY browser to surf the web? I have 10meg bband, really fast for downloads etc, but when simply surfing the web it often doesn't connect to pages at the first attempt, meaning constant refreshing etc - i never had this problem with eircom, or in the folks house with BT broadband....using the same laptop.... I've cleared cookies and all that but it doesn't seem to help.... Is it maybe the router they give u is rubbish? tho as I say the downloads tend to be really fast.... Thanks for any advice (ps i've tried IE, FFox, Chrome, etc, all the same result) Its my first post so thanks in advance for any replies!
sometimes routers give problems and need a reboot, power off for a few mins/on let it update and try that.
Gavo its makes sense , firstly what i am saying is I dont want the other channels but you cant just subscribe to the disney channel unless you pay for the whole ditigal package, therefore it is a rip on off. it like saying you cant get the movie or sport unless you take the other package .I have to pay for the ditigal package 3 times justto get the disney channel .now does hat make sense .
cheers cacktikid, that usually sorts out the problem for a few mins then its back to being rubbish! So frustrating, I don't even mind if its a bit slow, but 10meg should be fast enough - at the folks house they have 2meg and surfing there last week was less painful....weird
3 times? I really dont follow... Ok for 34 euro you would get digital max, which has the disney channels and also 8 or 9 other kids channels. With that obviously ud get rte, bbc, espn, discovery etc. Then you would pay for the extra box in the kids room, 4.25 per month, and if u wanted could block all channels apart from the kids ones on that particular box. I realise uve said u dont want the other channels but does this mean all u want from upc is the disney channels and not a single one more? Are we talking 1 tv with just the disney channels? Im not tryin to be argumentative here, just cant wrap my head around what ur lookin for or how u think ud be payin for it 3 times.
Trying to figure this out myself Doing a scan every now and again to try find the new config files. Anyone else?
Forgot to say the UPC lemming i was talking to said that 100mb broadband was on the way this year, he wasnt definite on the price but thinks it will be around the €85 mark
Anyway as far as I can make out the scart is only one way or else when connected to hdmi scart is immobilised
I agree UPC are offering a couple of good deals at the moment but they are just designed to sign you up for 12 month contracts. Especially since there are all the potential customers since the introduction of N3. I'd also like to point out their very awful customer service and don't forget being left on hold for 30 mins plus and getting cut off. Also don't forget the missed appointments for installation/service etc etc etc. Too much bad service to mention. Reluctantly I moved to Sky after the introduction of N3. I have to say I'm very happy with the service albeit expensive. I got the Sky+HD pack with the sports and I have to say it's worth it if you watch a lot of tv and have a HD tv. NTL cannot rival this service as they have very limited channels available on HD. I have also had to ring sky a couple of times regarding adding and removing channels and I have not had to wait more than 3-4 minutes before getting to speak to someone in customer service. Overall Sky is a far superior service even though more expensive than NTL current deals. Well worth the extra on these points and no I don't work for sky and was a NTL customer for 6 years. The decision came down to not being able to deal with ntl and their overall bad service any longer. If I was gonna have to pay for a premium service now that N3 is here, that's exactly what you expect for your €. Cheers.
Ok lads one more time maybe its me, but let say you have a 3 and 6 year old and all they watch is the disney channel nothing else while going to bed.you cant get just the disney from upc unless you take the whole ditigal packege for each box .the ditigal package does not include the disney so in short you pay for 3 ditigal packages and also pay extra for disney. The point was just have a kids package and charge less .you pay 138 for two month ,no movies ,no sports a bit steep i think
Gavo are you saying they gave you all station include disney minus sports ,movies for 34 euro because that not what they charge me .like i said i pay 138 every two months. me thinks they are ripping me of
