Finally Some Value For UPC Customers

the fibre pack from upc is not fully available in all areas and its for existing customers also as when I rang and inquired, they advised that its not in my area yet

 

does it jsut depend on what grumpy member of staff you get then to see if existing customers can get the fibre package? the person i was speaking to was fairly adamant it was for new customers only!

 

people there is an easy way to get around been a new customer order the package in your wife / partner name that way its a new sub simple as !!

 

not sure if that works with same address

 

so is upc giving the best broadband at moment with their fibre etc

 

why not dont people rent their houses out to other tennents ??

As much as I hate to admit it, their offer is actually reasonable. I would have though they'd become worse after N3. I have a question about the BB though.

Notice it says Usage limit is 40Gb when you get the 5Mb package and unlimited for 15 & 30. Would this actually be true unlimited usage? I noticed in the conditions here (htt p://www.upc.ie/broadband/fifteen/) it states that "All broadband services are subject to our acceptable usage policy" - Would this be defined as bandwith usage or something else like content? If the former, surely it would be in the usage limit like the 40Gb for 5Mb package indicates.

I ask as i've heard horror stories of them bumping up high downloaders to their €80 a month ultimate package without notice. They also have this:

Section three specifically. Admitedly it does state that the "data transfer allowance" is noted on the main upc site (which, aside from the aforementioned usage limit, it isn't). Dont want my mum having a heart attack if she gets a mental bill some month. They aren't 100% clear really are they?

 

usage policy to me, would be what you are using it for, but thats to cover their backsides, nowt to do with actual MB or GB totals you use, unlimited use is no cap on the line, if they state 40gb cap on the 5mb line, its the same as the eircom 30 gb cap on their 7mb service

 

It's a pretty hypocritical policy as it's not truly unlimited. It seems to be capped at 250gb. I exceeded it a while ago and they sent me a letter about it with the threat of moving me up to that higher priced package.

I sent them an e-mail about it basically tearing their ridiculous letter to shreds. Unsurprisingly I never got a reply. It's "unlimited", but it has a cap, therefore it's not really unlimited. To me that's false advertising and shouldn't be allowed. Also, if they don't state what the actual limit is anywhere on their site (which at the time they didn't, I don't know about now) then how the feck are people supposed to know not to exceed a specific numeric limit? It seems they deliberately do these things to try and catch people out and now they offer a 30mb package that's the same price as the 20mb but they won't upgrade you as it applies to new customers only and not people on current contracts. Gangsters.

 

At least you get a warning then. Hopefully decent cinema releases are spread thin over the year :O

can anyone recommend i have a upc lead coming in but i dont have a box as over the years the old box broke

and the wire only comes in a bit so i have to join the cable with cable from the tv and every so often i get the picture freezing is there a connection i can get to join the two wires tightly

 

Just get a back2back splitter and put regular connectors on the ends of both wires, i think that would work anyway.Correct me if im wrong anyone...

 

i dont think i need splitters its the main feed coming in its that connection from the main feed to the lead to the telly

 

Sorry back2back connector. Basically it just means u can take 2 cables that both have the same connection (the one that goes into the tv) and plug one into each end of the back2back

 

i just got digital max package for 4 euro extra a month as i was allready paying for espn and sky sports so for 4 uro i could have all basic channels , i also filled out form to get 15mb broadband , now i want to get extra point in room upstairs it will prob cost 5 extra a month i dont mind that but is their a way i can just get cable goin into kids room just so they have the basic 17 channels without paying another 5 euro a month each 2 kids rooms????

 

just split the cable and run one to each room, that way they will get the 17 analogue chans to each tv, multiroom @ 5 euro per month is if you get a box for each room

hi guys just wondering anyone in the north kerry area gone with the chorus ntl fibre ultimate pack or maybe it isnt availablein in our area seen in another post it could be april(all areas) i dont really want to phone them yet if you have would you recommend them
