Hi all, This is my first time updating my box I have a box super and i connected it to my pc serial port with a null modem cable and turned it on, put it on standby and opened gtrom to download the fix. I have gtrom set to com1 as that is the only port that is there but it says flash failed any idea what the problem could be.
Would I be correct in assuming your using a laptop with Vista?? if so try and get a PC with XP on it as theres loads of isssues with Vista.. failing this have a look here: http://www.freewebs.com/boxsuper/
No im using a pc with xp but still having the same problem. Any other ideas? I have also gone through the guide but still no joy. My pc doesn't seem to be recognising my box.
Iv now tried it on both pc and laptop both running xp but no joy. Just to confirm on the pc i get the flash update fail.. message after about 30 seconds but i tried it on my laptop with the usb to serial cable and null modem cable but no joy. I did install the driver for the usb to serial cable
You might have an RS232 cable & not a null modem cable. You`ll need a null modem DB9F to DB9F. Have a look at the pic in HiTeck`s guide here : >> http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/674371
No it is a null modem cable. This is so frustrating. It is connected to my pc the box is on standby but still no success.
maybe, unless im doing something wrong. I'll just walk you through what Im doing. I plug in the cable to the box and the port on my pc and then turn on the box and turn it to standby. Then i open gtrom it is set to com1 as that is the only port on my pc and i hit download is that it?
Thats basically it mossy, once app file only is selected. You`re doing everything right, so it could be a dodgy cable.
Evening Noel !! just in!! @ mossy, sorry for abandoning you last night something came up!! I can see Noely has been helping you out, had a quick read through and all seems in order!! wereabouts are you?
Howya Des, i`m outta here in a min, ive to meet a purple dinosaur (barney) with a b0x LOL. I`d say mossy`s problem is the cable (either its not a null modem, or its faulty).
Cheers Noel tell him baby bob was asking for him! and see if he has any freebies from that big company!! Mossy which cable are you using I know you said its a Null MOdem, have a look here and tell me is it the straight Null Modem or is it the USB one: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/674371
