Tested cdrs from 2 FujiFilm 50-Pack 80min/700MB(16x) spindles I bought from BestBuy and Ciruit City respectivley. They are both manufactured by Taiyo Yuden! Only cdr brand I have seen give a Lifetime warranty other than Kodak. I am pretty sure the 24x cdrs are TY as well (http://www.bestbuy.com/ComputersPeripherals/BlankMedia/CDRRWMedia.asp?m=488&cat=516).

    Nero Data
    Manufacturer : Taiyo Yuden
    Code : 97m24s01f

Yes, most Fuji media is indeed TY since [I believe] the 16x stuff.

They've may have changed their packaging, but it's still TY.

I just bought some of these at Best Buy today - 3/7/03. They are indeed still Taiyo Yuden, and the ones I got are rated 48x.

    From Nero:

    Manufacturer : Taiyo Yuden
    Disc Type : CD-R
Recording Layer : Dye Type 1: Long Strategy (Cyanine, AZO)
    Capacity : 79:59.72
    703 MB

FUJI FILM is the best cdr u can buy cuz some friedns and i have many burnt cds and almost all of the other cdrs became or were defective. Like i burnt a cd onto a Memorex cdr 74min and i left it in a car in a hot summer day and it melted compared to a Fuji Film right beside it was still useful.
    I HATE MEMOREX
P.S.: Why is Taiyo Yuden manufactured cdrs so important or valuable?

I have been using TY's in bulk quantities lately on a few automated duplicators. They have an almost non existant reject rate.

I am using 2 automated Duplicators/printer combos and the only CD-R I put in them is the TY 48X silver thermals I get here http://nationalaudiocompany.com/ssi/osb/itemdetails.cfm/ID/1738

Is there a way to find out the manufacturer before you buy the media? I tried using the utility that give that info, but it crashes my windows 2000 machine. I went to Best Buy and CompUSA, and all of the packages say "Made in Taiwan"

where in Nero does it display all that information aobut the media?
there is one section called "medium info" but it only displays the capacity and not the type, etc.

How to recognize Tayo Yuden before buying : http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=7280

I bought Fujifilm 700 MB, 1-32x multispeed CD-R. Made in Germany

    ATIP: 97m 26s 45f
Disc Manufacturer: FUJI Photo Film Co., Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
    Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
    nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

The 10 pieces boxes, certified 52x, were also made in Germany.

    Burning with Yamaha CRW3200 :
24x : focus or tracking error - the writing aborts at about 1/3rd of the CD.
16x OK. CDSpeed quality check with Memorex DVDMaxx 1648 : >30000 errors, some red bars once 48x is reached.

I gave up and switched back to Fnac Gold CDRs. 24x burning OK, CDSpeed-Memorex drive : zero errors, reaches 50x.
