Hey I was wondering when you setup the TCP/IP thing in the first phase of the tutorial do you do it the same if you have a router? Also is this where I change the settings:
    Control Panel->Network Connections->Local Area Connection 2->Properties->TCP/IP Properties

If I change the settings from receive IP and DNS automatically does this affect my internet connection. Again I am hooked up to a router, and I have a cable broadband internet connection.

Yes, you will not be able to use the internet while your computer is configured for talking to the gamecube (UNLESS your router IP happens to be 192.168.1.1 and working on the 255.255.255.0 subnet, then you MIGHT be able to get both at once). It's best to have a second network adapter dedicated to the gamecube.

KenkaiRyu: PSO requires a subscription fee to play online, if you only wish to use PSO for gamecube hacking, you don't need to pay a penny, that's why we fool the memory card into thinking you have a subscription. (one that isn't really valid online)

Thanks a lot I do have a linksys router I may pick up a router just for GC though. Would I have to plug my new router into my old one or get a second ethernet card? WIll having the GC hooked to the PC with internet slow the connection? And you can use any mem card right? I have an old one with lots of files on it will I need a mem card dedicated to just PSO (for GC hacking?)

For those of you trying to browse the Internet from your PC while streaming note that streaming to/from the Gamecube produced a UDP flood condition such that even if you have a backup route to the Internet you still will not be able to browse easily. My original test setup for streaming was a Windows XP computer with two network adapters: one dedicated to the Gamecube, and the other to my Internet router. Even with this setup I could not browse the net and stream simultaneousy.

Do you have to have the internet to stream GC games? And did they make Mini-DVD's yet that can support a whole GC game? Also the method to play these games from the computer connected to the GC is the same or no?

No, you do not need Internet to stream to/from the Gamecube. No, the Gamecube cannot read mini-DVD's. Whether or not the game fits on a disc is irrelevent. Not sure what you mean by your last question. Read the tutorial at the beginning of this thread to see how it's done.

I'm not sure if anyone posted this yet, I looked through and didn't see it though. In reply to Xenon131 especially, but if anyone else is having his problem, try this solution. Try setting the network card in your PC to 10Mb/s HalfDuplex mode. It worked for me.

The program DBAF is talking about, GCS, works perfectly with name-brand Nintendo memory cards, don't bother trying to extract/load your save games to third party cards tho.

As far as surfing and cubin' at the same time, both my systems (my 2.4ghz desktop, and my 2.0ghz laptop) have a 10/100 set up to run the gamecube (both run it about the same.. response time seems a tad faster on the desktop), and both have 802.11g wireless cards set up to my wireless router.

I play gamecube and browse the net daily.. I never leave MSN... I download walkthroughs and whatever while I play, no problem at all.

To run spiderman 2 a bit less choppy turn of the music in the options screen so it won't have to load it :)

(all go see http://list.gc-compat.com for all supported games with a forum about everygame so you'll see if it works!)

Oh and I managed to internet and stream a game at the same time by using 2 network cards....

Just disable the card which get's the internet then run your game (i tested if with the gc disc server.. so i don't know if it will work with phoenix...) Then while you are playing it just enable your internet and it should keep streaming the game!! ;)

When you are trying to run a game ISO from your computer to your gamecube can you surf the net or is it the same as when you make and image? Also what exactly is Cubesoft Phoenix for? And did they make big enough mini-DVDs to burn the GC iso's to?

When you're streaming to the gamecube, you 'can' surf the net (if you have a second network card to do so), but i wouldn't do anything that could result in causing the loader to miss a beat. I'm fine browsing walkthroughs and such, but I load my browser before hand, and i'm careful i don't do anything too strenuous on the pc.

They do have mini-dvds big enough to hold a gamecube image (1.4gb), but the gamecube can't read mini-dvds, so the only purpose for this would be your own personal storage (ie: somewhere other than your hard drive to put them)

Cubesoft Phoenix is an all-in-one gamecube hacking program. It includes loaders (ACL 1.2 1.3 and 1.4, GCL 1.0, and the MGS loader), it has two servers, the standard PC server, and the Phoenix PC server. It features two code uploaders (PSOLoad and PSUL). It also has a ripper included. Amongst other things, it has a tool to remove garbage data from gamecube images, it will initialize the PSO save file for you. It has a DVD browser so you can browse the files on your gamecube discs. It holds a database of all the games you have and particular settings for each one so you don't have to remember them. Best of all, it lets you force a resend of the last packet. (This has saved many game hangs for me).

There's my advertising shpeel for Cubesoft Phoenix. Now everybody go download it, and if you want to know how to use it, read my tutorial in these forums.

Is there a site for cubesoft Phoenix? I would like to be able to keep up to date with new versions or news about it. I have seen it on many sites but they usually have old versions and the program itself doesnt tell me any site to go to.
