Well my router IP is 192.168.1.100 but I have not bought the second ethernet card yet.
If I buy the ethernet card please list exactly what I need (including the cables cause I don't know what crossover and patch cables are!)haha.

I just went into a PC shop and asked for one.. but if you are looking to buy a crossover cable it has the colours reversed atone end of the plug whereas a normal ethernet cabela has two identical ends...

    KenkaiRyu:

Start a new thread and describe what you are trying to do please. It's getting kinda confusing having to read back through this thread to figure out what people are talking about. I don't fully understand your situation enough to troubleshoot your issue.

No, there is no known solution to the 10Mbit limit on streaming as of yet.

There is no STABLE known solution to the 10mbit cap.

I've had games run at 100mbit, using that fix (it's stupidly tricky to set up), however although games load insanely fast, it seems to trip over its own feet and crash out within 10 minutes of being into any game.

I'm hoping this isn't a stupid programming glitch with the guy that coded the fix, hopefully soon enough somebody else will take a stab at it.

I seem to remember calculating the bandwidth between the Gamecube's disc drive and the processor based on the drive's read speed and came up with a figure of around 24Mbit/sec. which is obviously slightly less than 1/4 the 100Mbit/sec. the ethernet adapter is capable of. It is quite possible that the Gamecube simply can't handle receiving game data faster than 24Mbit/sec.

It shouldnt matter about the read speed on the dvd drive, because we could create a virtual rom just for streaming ;)

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're trying to say. Do you mean to somehow stream a modified BIOS/Firmware to the Gamecube to possibly alter it's behavior to somehow read mini DVD-R's?

Icemonkey: I meant firmware to make the drive multi region, make the broadband adapter stream faster, and so on..

To kirbyGuy: it doesnt matterabout the size of the little dics, the gamecube CANNOT play mini dvd's yet. The only way it could is with a mod-chip.. the only point of putting games onto any removable storageisto save space on your computers hard drive.

Can't someone make self-boot discs for the GC like they did for the DreamCast?

No, you cant! And never will unless someone can provide a mod chip!

That makes no sense though because the point of a Self-Booting burned game is that it does not reuiqre a mod chip.

There will never be self booting games for the gamecube as it will not work with the system. It DOES NOT READ any type of DVD so it cannot 'Self Boot', even the small dvds do not work. Create a self boot game for a small DVD, that the console cant read in the first place. A modchip is needed so that the console could actually read the disc, once it can read it, then from there it could theoretically self boot. Man, you waste my time

I would just like to say to those who have been trying for days to get this GC to PC link to work (do you get the starcube message?) with one method or another, that you must change your NIC properties to 10mb half duplex in Windows, System, nic, properties.

XP usually sets it to AUTO. This is why its fine for some; but for others, it needs to be manually set for some odd reason.

I sure wish this was in the first post, Icemonkey, it would save people a lot of time.

Same thing with the DramCast it did not use cd's remember it used something else, a GD-ROM. And if I am wasting your time then don't answer, you don't have to be obnoxious.
