1- I already used this forum in the past to get to run PS2 backups, I was searching for the easiest way. I read on the Ahead games website that they sell pre-modded gamecubes. Do you think, since it would be pre-modded, that I would still need to flash the modchip, etc. or it should be all set to play a backup directly?

2- I'm a little confused with the meaning of flashing, so what do you mean by this as I might need to do it (if it has not already been answered)?

3- Is there no way to rip to an dvd image directly from PC, I hardly concieve the only way is to first run it on gamecube and transfert with the broadband adapter... I suppose if a computer can read the disc, it can rip it as an image?

No one has broken the encrytion of the GC games yet well its that or like the dreamcast it has a specail drive for its meida thus the only way to copy is to plug it into the PC and rip off the GC.

As for useing cheat devices its the mod chip that might intrefer with it.

I'm not sure about the drive. I heard the game is read the opposite way, same as Xbox.

I heard that for the old timer Dreamcast, the reversed ripping/burning was possible using a some ripping/burning utility... couldn't it be the case for Gamecube and Xbox too?

You Noobs should read the thread.
The Max Drive Pro method works and is a way to play backups/stream games from PC without a modchip. The only way to get a backup of a gamecube game is to rip the disc to your PC and then burn it.

I am sure this is a really stupid question, but how do i start up psul? Whenever I double click it, it opens really fast and then closes before i can do anything. When I move a .dol onto it and open it stays open, but I can't enter psul -s.

    You will require...

    A Gamecube (mine is PAL)
Max Drive Pro (Must be Pro)
    Sony 8cm Mini-DVD (Handicam DVDs)
GCOS 1.4 Bios (Google for it)
A Gamecube Game RIP (Change to .ISO and burn in Nero

The max drive pro is just a way to boot code. You boot the gCoS bios, which is able to play backups, imports and streams from PC
    A good link is http://www.maxconsole.net

PS if you don't want to burn the backups then you can stream them from your pc with GCoS real loading server

    Hi.

I'm pretty new to Gamecube-modding, but do have a modded Xbox and had someone install a Viper GC in my Gamecube. I also got me a case-replacement so i can use full DVDs.

I have been using some backup-up discs, and the first discs went well, but than my DVD-supplier stopped supplying the discs that worked for me, so i tried a couple of other brands. All of these give me load-errors at some point.

I'm pretty sure the DVD-burns are ok (used Nero). I found some info on tweaking the laser and did so (from a value of 320 to about 200 i believe), but still get errors. Original game-discs load without problems. Anybody have ideas/URLs of what i can try more please ?!

    Thank you!

Try using Memorex DVD-R. I have used both the 4x and 8x discs without a problem.
I just got my full size DVD case yesterday. Been playing with the top off for almost a year now. LOL

Guys, the best solution EVER, is spend a little more money buying Mini DvD Ritek. There is no need to change Pot value then, neither use full Size case! But, for those u think another way, use TDK, works **** ....Ritek works **********!
