ok. a few things I know I want.

    intel quad core q6600
seagate barracuda hd (500 gig or more)
    dual layer burner
    20 inch monitor

other than that I'm a little lost especially when it comes to compability issues or quality. Any help would be appreciated

    Hmm.

Well see if this will fit your budget.

    Q6600
    Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R
    ATI HD4850
    4GB RAM(PC-8500, cas5)
    Corsair 550VX

See if you can get a Dell 20inch.

HD4850, hehe. Thought I'd point that out. It's vastly better than the 8800GT.

    Also, get Corsair RAM, specifically.

Cooler Master RC690 or the NZXT Tempest.

You also need a CPU cooler. I would suggest the Tuniq Tower or the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme.

The NZXT Tempest and Ultra-120 cooler is a superb combination. if you get the latter though, remember to get a 120mm fan to use with it. I recommend Scythe.

you need a keyboard and mouse, like in your original post. but your uses may vary so you can simply get some cheap ones or ebay them. for the dual layer burners, you can get something like

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136144

theres a bunch of different ones you can get, i just picked one that was cheap, good dvd burner brand, and had the DL you wanted.

dell monitors do look nice, i actually have the 2008wfp one myself. but i recently searched around monitors and i found out that there are actually different types on lcd monitors. and almost all dell monitors are TN panel monitors. and are cheap and are supposedly for 'gamers' because of the quick response time, but they lack color saturation. i just wanted to give a note. ffonlly, if your really in a pinch and play games, then TN panels are for you because of their price and such. but if you have a little more money to spend, this is just a little heads up on whats out there. just incase you plan on like using multimedia or photo editing and such, then you want one with better colors.

S-PVA panels I think are exclusively samsung, so perhaps unlikely to feature in dell monitors, but a large proportion of them are S-IPS, not TN, which is the best picture quality of all.

S-IPS are good enough to play games on these days.

These days presumably going as far back as 2006, as the 3007WFP is more than adequate for gaming.

Seems alright, but that's not the PSU I'd choose.

I don't like the case and PSU. Also the CPU cooler, while good, is not on par with the other ones.

How much is he selling this for?

Is it a bad quality psu or just not enough power?
