I have read several help guides/tips by members who attempt to help those of us who are new to the dvd copy business. In short I am becoming more and more confused as I attempt to copy my first copy-protected DVD.

I intend to use Nero 6 to copy my files to disk after I use DVD shrink. My first question is where does decryptor come into play here? My next question is if I do want to burn with Nero, should my decryptor/ mode/ISO be set to read or write?

Yes I know that I can burn with decryptor, but regardless of how many articles I read I just dont get this whole image burning thing. What I do understand is the Video_TS folder and associated file.

My confusing lies here. The way I understand this whole process is that a copy protected DVD needs to be decryted in order to get a copy of it. I assume that this process is begin done if I am burning with decryptor and not with Nero.

If this is the case should I run a copy protected DVD through decryptor first, then open those file w/ shrink and then Burn w/ Nero. Or am I just missing something and doing to much to copy?

    Hi PBnJ, welcome to aD,

DVD Decrypter only comes into play if DVD Shrink cannot rip your DVD (Rare).

If you are using DVD Decrypter to rip your DVD, set it to Mode, File OR Mode, ISO, R (read).

Consider the "Image" as something like the VIDEO_TS folder except that you can't open the folder. Everything is in there and when you burn it to disc, your complete movie is there in whatever manner you processed it, with the extras or, without, whichever way you did it -

The image is the same type of thing BUT the files in the folder (image) are cemented together - they still work and they work just fine -

    True.

No, not quite. When you first pickup the DVD, That's when the Decryption takes place.

Only if DVD Shrink can't open it. When you click, "Open Disc", DVD Shrink rips (decrypyts) the DVD - (it says "Analyzing").

When it "Opens" those files, it could be decrypting IF it was required - DVD Shrink is an excellent ripping proggy.

    Cheers,

    Pete

IF you wish to try DVD Dfecryptyer as a burner (not to worry, it won't hurt a bit, Lol),In Shrink, go to edit, preferences, I / O tab, un-tick "Enable burning with Nero." THEN, when you get there, in "Backup", select ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter -

The very last thing, you have to make sure of, that DVD Decrypter has been set in Mode, ISO, W (for write) Now, Decrypter can be closed up if you wish because like when DVD Shrink works with Nero ("automatically") it does it exactly the same way with DVD Decrypter. The major differences, With DVD Decrypter, you're only using 2 proggys AND both of them are FREE. There's nothing wrong with Nero, nothing at all AAMOF, If I wanted the very best, and Nero was FREE (or if I had it, (I do have it)) I would use DVD Decrypter OR AnyDVD and Nero's recode 2. It does the same things as DVD Shrink BUT I keep my menus - Yip-peee !

Anyway, it's what I do - I get tired of doing it all the same way so I try different methods with different ways -

    Check it out -
