doesnt updating firmware take care of the blank screen most of the time

will divx work on win xp?

 

yes divx will work on xp home and xp pro i ahve it running on two machines and you can update the firmware it never hurts but just to let you know that alot of files from the internet are divx video anyway so its always good to have also if it works and you check for an updated firm also check for updated aspi you can see guides on that issue. then try nero after divx if it still doesn't work consider a trip back to the store
