I want to remove some of the start up processes to gain some more speed, I took the ones out of the startup folder that I didn't need, but what folder in the registry are they?

goto run & type msconfig & goto startup tab.

    or you could use this:

    Startup Control Panel v2.8

Tired of always launching the same programs when your system boots up? This applet allows you to automatically launch programs when your system starts up. Of course, you can do that manually, by changing entries in your Registry. But this program's simple interface lets you avoid that confusion--and best of all, the program is free. Download Startup Control Panel v2.8 here http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7976,findid,49984,00.asp

I forgot to say that it can stop programs when your system starts up as well. I use this instead of doing it by hand myself.
