Not needed for SecuROM 4.8.x but doesn't hurt if ticked in the write process. You should have created the "install disc" (no bwa file) first to see if you could install\play from the backup as I advised in my previous post. Read the protected SecuROM cd [bold] slow [/bold] to your hd and burn [bold] slow [/bold]. If you fail the the latest BlindWrite build then switch to BlindWrite Suite 4.25

as i said before i backed up the install cd perfectly with CloneCD. The only problem i had was with the play cd.
I read it at max speed i think but i write at 1x.
i used the backup install cd with the original play cd and it worked perfectly.

thank u both for your help

The problem i had was burning the play CD.
But i have a question if both CD's are protected by the same protection, why is one of them easier to burn than the other?
And is it possible succesfully backup Safedisc and securerom with a burner like mine or do i have to use a virtual drive and relay on emulation?
My burner is not listed in the list Shoey posted for burners that can backup savedisc and securerom but i was still able to perfectly backup the install cd for GTA vc and Warcraft 3 which both are protected by securerom.

    thanx

Well this is the easy part of backing up SecuROM 4.8.x^ up

This is the most difficult process when backing up SecuROM 4.8.x as not every bwa file will work. It is recommended to read any SecuROM 4.8.x image [bold] slow [/bold] and burn [bold] slow [/bold]. I'm comfortable readin'\writin' at 8x.

Consider yourself lucky as your dvd\cd-rom can bypass the Twinsector cd scheme of the SecuROM protected cd(s) but it is advised that you create a "play" disc if you have a 2nd or 3 computers or if you decide later to replace your roms m8. The "list" I posted are Safedisc 2.x "killers"= burners and doesn't apply when backing up SecuROM 4.8.x. Most burners on the market have the ability to read sub-q channel (data\audio)=RAO DAO 96\94\16. If you wan't a burner than can easily backup Safedisc 2.9.x& SecuROM 4.8.x and many audio cd protections as well then grab the Litey LTR 52\32\52x or Litey LTR 52\24\52x (writes RAO DAO+96) can't go wrong elo...

i used the same burner to install the game
    52x24x52 SONY CD-RW CRX220E1
Sony is really good but i know Lity's are the best when it comes to burning.

So can i backup GTA VC perfectly on a CD without the need of a virtualdrive or emulation with my burner?

Yes you can m8 as your Sony burner has the ability to read\write sub-q channel (data\audio). Were you able to play GTA VC using the "install disc"? If so it is recommended by the BlindWrite Suite team (icluding me) to also create a "play" disc for safety. You might own a 2nd pc or maybe later down the road upgrade to a dvd burner.

Yes, i used the backup install CD and an original play CD and it worked.

by making a "play" disc, do u just mean make a copy of the original play cd using BlindWrite?

( lol u might i am kinda slow or something, i just wanna make sure i know whats going on..hehe)
    Thanx..

    hi

a play disc means you need a disc with a BWA file burnt into it aswell! its emulation... and it can be read on most burners/cdroms!

you got that file from my link for you!

    Thx

No need to and I advise not to post for the "paying" of anything m8. Don't take me the wrong way but Afterdawn, along with countless forums are constantly being monitered...
Try Rotary's bwa file(s) and if you are unsuccessful, then try here:
    http://www.copybase.net/

Note: When backing up SecuROM 4.83^(up), remember to create a "install disc" (no bwa file in image folder) and a "play disc" (bwa file in image folder). The latest BlindWrite Suite build should get the job done but many prefer BlindWrite Suite 4.25. The download is located in our sticky threads as you enter the forum. Good luck!
