I was looking around and I read that if you buy a good graphics card and then a cheap monitor it is a waste of money because a worse grpahic card can still max out settings like 1280 x 1024. So my question is what graphics card would be able to max out or be good for - 800 x 600 - 1024 x 768 - 1280 x 1024 - 1600 x 1200 -
Well, it depends which size monitor you're going with, there's far more to graphics cards than this. What sort of games will you be playing? What's your budget?
monitor size is either 17" or 19" as for budget i can afford up to HD 3870 maybe a 880 Gt if i can stretch it
sorrry as for games max resolution isn't a big deal I want to be able to play starcraft 2, i play fear the latest NFS.
In this case your resolution is only likely to be 1280x1024 or 1440x900. A single high end card will be fine for these. If you're in the US, an 8800GT is nice and cheap, but in the UK they're more expensive. If you can get an 8800GT, however, do. I used to recommend HD3870s to people but after a few months' first hand experience, it's clear to me that the 8800GT is the better product.
Nowhere near as good. Stick with the GT, and additionally avoid EVGA, especially the superclocked ones.
EVGA cards just go wrong more often than other brands recently, I think there's a bit of a quality control issue at the factory. Their superclocked cards seem to suffer worse.
ok but what about the 8800 gs is that a good card by itself... also what about palit 9600 gt and sonic how are those
satisfactory... wow then wwhats great for u... cause i hear the they are amazing cards, plus both can play and games out on the market now can't they...
get the 8800gtx rather than the 9600gt stay away from evga they have chonic quality control probs and a completetely useless support staff
