hard drive failure?

    well i just bought a new ipod video yesterday, and now when i went to start up my ipod, all i saw was the apple logo going on then off and over and over.

    i decided to put it to my ears and heard a whining noise as if the hard drive was failing.

    can anyone tell me what this is?

    Well, If it is a harddrive failure and you just bought it yesterday you should definately bring it back to the store while it is still under warranty.
