Hard Drive Problem. Win 2k not Recognising My 160gb Maxtor!?

The card I specced (1680) costs in the region of £15 + postage for an extremely good card that will solve all the problems and give extra resources as well.

How much does Windows XP cost? £115 approx!

Compared to the £15 card that provides improved I/O performance, lower drain on CPU, releases IDE channels so that devices don't have to share, etc. etc.???

To be sure, throwing money at a problem will normally get it solved, but advising a big spend when a small spend provides more doesn't make sense to me.

Only my point of view, of course - each to their own.

Personally I would be confident in matching my Windows 2000 systems against ANY XP system.
