hard drives not showing up

    put a dvd rewrite into computer(everything ok till then} switched back on but would not boot up,asked for system disk putting in, went in bios checked everything,seems ok,original cd/dvd player now not working as if there's no power to that and the hard drive,greatful for any useful advice,cheers

    I think that you missed important pieces of information. Did the computer try to reboot when you put the DVD RW disc in?

    Did you eventually get the computer to boot back up? If not, how do you know the CD/DVD player is not working?

    thanks for reply,not sure if cd working as could not get the computer to boot up still showing no hard drives in bios?

    Did you try booting up with the DVD writer unplugged? Check all of your connections to the hard drive. You may have unseated the plugs when you put in the DVD writer.

    thanks for come back, removed dvd player,checked both harddrives connections{both had been working fine up to then} all looks ok can acess bios but no further,hammer coming out next ha ha,can you tell i am a beginner at this

    also tried a different hard drive in case of fault with origanal,but that doesn't show either,cheers
