Does ne1 know if the flashman file that Preyzuess linked will work on win2k? The file says XP and I'm just wondering. I'm considering buying one of these drives and I'm doing a little homework on them 1st.

Good drive? Or is there one better?

Let me know before I buy, thanx.

I have no I idea if it will work on ME or 2000, but works fine with my XP and 98.
Are the Pioneer dvr 107d drive good?
Ya, I already have two on my both pc and I am getting a 3rd one soon.
It take of the ripping speed, I use Philips 2x to write it at 8x speed , and the speed of ripping of a dvd is great, less than 15min(30 with deep analysis)
it did not lose the quility as ripping at 2.4x.

Talk about newbie!Ha! Okay, so I have a brand new OEM drive connected and all, I'm scared to death of messing things up in there, haven't tried installing any firmware as yet, this whole "region" thing has me worried sick, and I don't know where to find out what version my 107d is. Please, oh please, help!!
Is this a green bean should really be messing with?
    And, Oh, thank you!

Well hello Pieman, and thanks so much! I did just that and it show a lousy 1.10(and I just bought this thing!) DVDinfopro said right away that it had a 2.60 version and was I ready to install, and of course, I said no(the Pee-Wee that I am - I'm terrified of this thang!) So, now what??

I take it that 2.60 was the dvdinfopro version? If so thats the latest so dont be afraid, install it!!You will have no problem installing the official pioneer firmware from the pioneer site, but thats not what we really want.Im after the firmware that will let me rip at 12x,burn 8x on all 4x media.I just hope someone helps out there, but no one answers my posts!!Ive tried a few updates but they wont take cos they dont recognise my 107 as a pioneer.Ill try a new post specifically re this.

    The Link has changed to

    http://flashman.rpc-1.com/

Just been and checked :) just click on link which states Collection of firmwares. Now choose your drive makei.e.Pioneer, then click on your model number 106D,107D or 108. For Example if you clicked on the 107D you will see the DVR107D_Standard and the DVRA07XL listed. Now click on your model you have and a new Subdir will open up containing a further 2 subdirs containing the 2 folders called Official and Patched. Click on the patched subdir and all the latest hacked firmwares are there for you to download.

Grab the file ending in nx4all.zip as this is the one that unlocks your drive makes it region free, allows you to burn @ x8 on quality x4 media, the DVD ripping speed is now x12 and you can burn x4 on a branded x2 dvd-RW such as TraxData. Hope this has helped all the newbies out and possibly some normal/advanced users.

Hi and THANK YOU!! This is great, I will get right to it, just one question. There are several files that I can download, is the one you mention (nx4all.zip) the only file that I need to download, or do I need to do them all? I'm not sure what the others do, so I am really not sure. Many thanks for the info, it's a huge help!

The file you need to download is called
    [bold]DVR-107Dv1.18-RPC-1+12xRip nx4all.zip[/bold]

Inside there are 2 firmwares under the names

[bold]R7100007.118/R7100107.118[/bold]<you only need to use both if you have a rebadged Pioneer. i.e. Pioneer internals but another manufactures Kernal(The Heart of the drive)

[bold]R7100107.118[/bold]< use only this one firmware mod if your drive is a true Pioneer drive[/bold]

Again I hope this is of help to all.

    Cheers Jiggy......
