Back to the topic title... i really hope the buble hasnt burst. Ive just taken stock of 4 boxes this week as a first time user (one for my pa, one for me and other two for friends). Within a week the boxes go down and now i have 3 unhappy peeps phoning me up asking whats wrong. Scouser you seem the main man around here my friend, and you should be in good spirit tonight after the result against the Gooners ;-)... can i just ask a few questions if i may.

Firstly i got the boxes off ebay and since have read about clones and how they cant be flashed. I have undone my box and there is no red paint around the boards. I take it then its not a clone so i should be able to flash if thats what this latest CC fiasco will ultimately need. Trouble is i have no pc with a com port on it... can you get the null modem cables to work any other way ??

Lastly (honestly!) i live in the Pompey area which used to be N*L before the change. I have tried all the codes previously posted to no luck... and also tried TeleW codes but no luck still.

And chance of a little help and advice if you got the time... any help will get the wolves off my back and be most appreciated :)

You can get a USB to serial adapter or PCI card to use in conjuction with the null modem cable.

Try the exC** codes I have posted above or the other codes for N** in the link at the end of my post. Are you using the menu, yellow button method?

Yes m8 im using the menu yellow button method.

PS is the red paint way the only way to tell a clone. Im just worried that i get a cable, flash the box and brick it (i guess the first one is always the most panicy one).

I know im getting a little ahead of myself here and so far its only a code change but i gues this is the way its gonna go :-(

So far but if you brick it you can jtag it back to life either way, but sound like genuine boxes you have.

People are working on a firmware fix, The Box AUs so its just a matter of a firmware fix, it is not an encryption change just a new keyroll method.
