I have a 200 gig hdd. i had it installed and working fine. When I attempted to install new memory i had to unplgu the hdd to get the memory in. So long story short, when i completed the instalation the hdd no longer worked, and when i turn the computer on the computer beeps at me like 8 or 9 times. I am thinking that the motherboard is shorted or possibly i have a bad hdd. But the hdd worked fine just before I unplugged it. any help would be appreciated. The computer works if and only if i unplug the 200 gig hdd power and ribbon cable. Good thing is that i also have a 20 gig hdd for now. any help is greatly appreciated thanks. Have a nice night.

what is the ide cable? the ribbon cable?
it is definatley the hdd that is beeping. therefore i am led to believe that possibly the motherboard cannot handle it or possibly it has been broken.
