Thanks for the update dblbogey7. I take it you mean future player models that have HDMI 1.3 and advanced codec transmission enabled, right. I think the upcoming Sony BDP-S500 will be able to do this.
I've read a lot of info about this player and it is hard to nail down exactly what it has. From what I've read, it is not HDMI1.3 but that it is HDMI1.3 capable. So supposedly a future firmware update would make it 1.3. As far as when an update is forthcoming, I can't find anything.
Guys, I was Googling to try and find some information on 5.1 HD DVD analogue outs and came across this thread. I'm setting up a large HT using mostly pro amps and speakers and the sound processing (phase, delay, crossover etc) is being handled through a BSS 9088iis system. Speakers are three JBL 3631 cinema ScreenArrays up front and six JBL surrounds. Nothing else but HD DVD viewing is on the menu in the HT. I'm not interested in music, HDTV or anything else.......... Here's a question I have. Can I run the HD DVD players 5.1 analogue outs directly into the BSS Soundweb box and do away with a pre amp altogether? I'm not sure how much control I get using the HD DVD player's remote........ Is it possible to set this up do you think. Soundweb gear is very flexible but I really don't know if this can be done. Thanks
