First of all, my sincerest apologies if I am restating something already addressed. However, I have searched High and Low and still havent figured this one out.

    I am running a 2.8ghz, 800 FSB but only 256Ram....
I have updated the firmware and am running a clean session (i.e. nothing in the background)

I installed a Teac (Dell) DVD+RW in this computer. Bought memorex dvd+r. I am using Decrypter, Shrink 3.2 and Nero 6.x... All result in slow burning.

I have checked, rechecked; deleted, reinstalled my IDE channels to ensure DMA mode. On my secondary DMA I chose DMA mode if available, however, the grayed out box correlating to current transfer mode reads PIO.
Having Failed to correct the problem, I tried going to my regedit and deleting the checksum lines. Everytime I reboot they reappear and no change to my burning speed.

Today I have bought Sony DVD+R media and still no change.

Personal conundrum....I have 29 copies of my wedding video to burn for family. I hate telling my wife I cant do it (typical man syndrome). Even if I could get this to burn at 2x or 4x i would be happy.

Any and All help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

Have you downloaded and installed the latest Drivers and firmware for that drive?
Will the drive recognize any type of disk when you insert it?

I have downloaded and updated the firmware. Since I am using WinXP Home - there is no original driver provided. I have also searched the web for a dedicated driver, however apparently there isnt one available. My drive is: Teac dv-w58e

HI Moazam, Your ram at 256mb is almost just enough to run Windows Xp so that is hurting your burn time some. You said you reinstalled your IDE channels. I would go back into your device manager and remove the IDE controllers again and also the burner drive there too. Then reboot and let Windows reinstall the IDE controllers and drive again. If its running in PIO mode you won't have any luck burning faster. You might want to check your BIOS setup and make sure DMA is set there also. These are just suggestions that might help but you need that IDE setting on DMA.

Hello, sorry about the delay. When I ran the NERO info I realized something...for some reason, I had my DVD burning running as a SLAVE. My computer doesnt have DMA for the slave drive. Since I didnt have another IDE slot open for another ribbon in my box, I just switched the drives and PRESTO CHANGE-O, ALAKAZAM... we are burning at 4.0x (up to 8x for my data dvds). 12 coasters later! Thank God for the sale on sony dvds at Staples last week. (19.99 for 50).

Thank you all for your help!
