Can anyone help me???? I have compressed my files using DVD Shrink and am now trying to burn using nero 6. Nero gets to the end of burning but cannot finalize. I have ensured that finalize disk is on but keep getting illegal file message. Please help

    [bold]My basic guide for you:[/bold]

Open Nero Express & select DVD Drive in drop down box.
    Hit DVD-Video
On next screen you double click on red VIDEO_TS folder.
Then on the right click 'add'
Select folder from which you'll select all VOB BUP IFO files & hit 'add' button...then finished button after all files are added.
Next screen will give you chance to name your disk (if you so wish) & also the option of speed of burn.
    No. of copies 1
Neither of the boxes checked underneath [Multi-session & verification of burnt files]
    BURN !!

    Enjoy ; )

P.S. In the settings make sure you are on UDF 1.02

Here is the simple fix. When you rip your movie, either rip the files to a folder named "VIDEO_TS" or move your ripped files to a folder named "VIDEO_TS". Open Nero and choose the 'DVD Video' in the compelation selection. Drag your "VIDEO_TS" folder to the "VIDEO_TS" folder in Nero. DO NOT drag the files individually or as a group from your "VIDEO_TS" folder to the "VIDEO_TS" folder in Nero or the write will FAIL. You must drag the "VIDEO_TS" folder containing your files to the Nero folder. If you get an error message ignore it because disc will be fine.

The rest of the setting are the same as in the guides. Good luck to you.

    [bold]Nero Burning Rom alternative:[/bold]
    -----------------------------

    Open Nero Burning Rom
Hit DVD in the Drive options drop down box & then DVD-Video on the the left hand column.
We'll do the settings while we're here...
    No Multi-session
    ISO Tab:ISO Level 1
I have Joliet box ticked & ISO9660...all un-checked in boxes below
Right , hit 'New' in the top right corner.
In the far left column , double click on red VIDEO_TS folder.
Find your DVD Files from browser & select all..drag n drop them to empty column (2nd from left).
Hit the Burn icon which is the disc with a match in front it...choose speed of burn & do exactly that BURN !!: )

Nice of you to think so but I think he will find that my recommendation will work. It seems strange, doesn't it? But I've not seen an error since it's done this way. :p

Oh, I forgot to mention, it has nothing to do with the video_ts folder. It's how Nero handles the files when they are moved - entirely related to file handling and a rather annoying bug.

Yeah, see, that's the problem entirely. Everyone seems to keep uttering the same paths towards making a DVD, and yet nothing seems to work. Here's my deal:

    1. The above ways in Nero to create a DVD backup from DVD Shrink files are the same as the guides directly suggest on this site.

    2. I'm using a TDK indi +- burner at 2X, with TDK DVD - media.

    3. I'm using Nero 6 and ALL the steps above.

    4. EVERY time I create a DVD, it gets through about 1/4 to 1/2 of the data, and then spits the disc back out and says that it's an illegal disc. It's not.

I'm sorry that you're having such problems, it is very frustrating. Actually, the recommendations above don't really address your problem. My recommendation is only to resolve the problem with the writing of the 'read out' for a disc, as is herbsman's suggestion. Without more specific information, it is difficult to make a recommendation or solution. Did you save your Nero log? I do not know your expertise with computers, but the log is helpful in resolving conflicts.

In your case , it sounds like it might be the media type you are using. Have you tried using sony or memorex?

My problem is that I'm using TDk media with a TDK burner? Yeah, maybe...
