hey i've been trying to get picodrive to work on my DS. I have an R4DS. I'm not sure if you need to put it on a specific place on the flash cart or what, i just can't seem to get it to work. could someone please give me instructions that anyone could understand? i'm asked other people but they just use very technical terms and confuse me more.

    please help me
any help would be greatly appreciated

picodrive.nds needs to be patched with the dldi tool
    It is very easy
all you need to do is download two files from here
    http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI/
the patch (r4tf.dldi) and the patcher (dldi tool)
let me know if you need more help

Ok, here is what you want to do

Download the dlditool (Win32 GUI version)
    http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI/downloads/dlditool-win32-gui.zip
Download the patch r4tf.dldi (R4(DS) - Revolution for DS
    M3 Simply compatible)
    http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI/downloads/r4tf.dldi
    Download the emulator file, picodrive.nds
    http://www.cryptosystem.org/projects/nds/picodriveds-0.1.7/

Now that you have these three files
Put the following into a folder called 'picodrive files' (you can put this file anywhere, desktop would be easiest though)
    -picodrive.nds
    -r4tf.dldi
extract the dlditool as it is in a zip file
    once extracted
Double click on the aplication dlditool32, it is 60.0KB
Now the DLDI Patcher v0.32 program will start

Where it says DLDI file: click on the 3 dots at the end and navigate to the folder 'picodrive files'

Where it says Binaries: click on the 3 dot at the end and navigate to the folder 'picodrive files'

Then just click Patch and you are done. You should get a 'patched successfully' comment in the output box.

Now just take the .nds file from the folder 'picodrive files' and transfer it to you memory card. Also make sure you have a folder in the root of your memory card and call it something cool, like SEGA or GENESIS.

Now just run the picodrive.nds file and navigate to the folder which has you sega games.

I'm getting a message saying that i don't have enough bytes to procede with the program. it says i have 1 byte and need like 8192 bytes. and when i search the binaries files and go to picrodrive files it doesn't bring up any files, only when i change the search to all files do i see any files in that folder. Do i need to put a Genesis rom in the folder?
    thanks for the help

Ok try to leave 50MB free on your memory card and put like 3 genesis games in your folder where you keep all your genesis games.

Try patching the game the following way

    Download dlditool (win32 version)
    http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI/downloads/dlditool-win32.zip

    Download the patch (r4tf.dldi)
    http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI/downloads/r4tf.dldi

    Download the .nds file (picodriveds.nds)
    http://www.cryptosystem.org/projects/nds/picodriveds-0.1.7/picodriveds.nds

    Extract the dlditool like before
This time you will get a text file called 'license' and an application called 'dlditool'
Put the following in a folder called 'rom_dir'

    -picodriveds.nds
    -r4tf.dldi
    -dlditool

Now place that folder on the C drive so that it reads C:\rom_dir
Click on the start button and select run...
    type in cmd
This will open a command prompt
    It should say C:\>
    Type 'rom_dir\>dlditool r4tf.dldi picodriveds.nds'
Then press enter and you it should say 'Patched successfully'
The .nds file 'picodriveds.nds' should now be patched

I have a PicodriveDS question myself. I got it running and have Sonic the Hedgehog. I have not figured out how to start the game. I get picodrive started, load the rom, and then it starts and goes into its demo phase, but I have not figured out which buttons are which. What is the start button?

I think it is sonic.smd. I can check when I get home to confirm that.

    Hey gibbey531
take the folder 'rom_dir' that has picodriveds.nds, r4tf.dldi, and dlditool, and drag it to C:\Documents and Settings\Jim&Donna
Get there by right clicking the start button, selecting explore,
then click Jim&Donna which should be under Documents and Settings
there should be a bunch of folders like cookies, desktop, favorites, application data, my documents, etc.
Also the address should read C:\Documents and Settings\Jim&Donna
then open a command window again by running 'cmd'
    then type in the following
    'rom_dir\>dlditool r4tf.dldi picodriveds.nds'
Pretty sure this will solve problem

Hi, I have a similar problem with trying to get my picodrive working. I bought a japanese version of the r4 card, then downloaded pico 1.7 and dldi tool, but still doesnt work. When I run the drive it only says:

    Trying to init FAT....
    FAT init failed
Appended ROM check.... ROM not found

No way to load ROMs found

My card works with ds games work and the snes and mastersystem emulators but not the picodrive.
If anyone knows why this is happening please help me cause im shit at these things.

Use jEnesis DS instead, much higher compatibility and much faster.

I HAVE THE SAME EXACT GOD DAMN PROBLEM WITH MAX OVERLOAD. I did it off all my drives, even the CF card. It just didn't help.

I'd also like to note that reinstalling DLDI and Max Overload did NOTHING.

Did you try DLDI patching it with the appropriate patch?

since you are using max overload, did you use the .nds file or the .ds.gba file?
