help..hard disk cant format

    using maxtor 80gb sata1

    i did partiation 40gb each..c: and D:

    but now i cant seem to format drive D:

    i hv try format though windowXP but stop at 27% with error msg :
    " data check error..bla bla..someting cycline redundacy bla bla..."

    then i try using boot setup win's CD and format during installing new window...still then same...onli this time the pc just hang after 20%++

    does this means i need to change my harddisk ?
    maxtor brand warranty is how long?

    any inhouse sifu here can help? :help: :help:

    p/s: drive C still can using...but sometime can feel abit laggy

    Cyclic Redundancy Check (or CRC) means that there's something on the disk that shouldn't be there, or something that should be there isn't. It suggests the format for the partition was botched. There could perhaps be a bad sector on thr drive, in which case you should replace it. Typically the warranty for hard disks is three years.
