Help! I can only read burnt DVDs!

    Hey guys i have a problem here. I just installed winXP on a new machine. But now my HP 740b Burner will only read burnt media. I checked my device Mangr and everything there seems ok. Any one know whats going on?

    ok call me silly but what would it be able to read if there was not any thing on a blank disk?

    ok..sorry if i wasnt clear. If i put in a regular say installation disk my dvd drive will not see it. If i put in a burnable cd with some sort of data on it in the drive, it will see it

    Actually i found that its CDs my hp dvd player wont recognize, Burnt or originals. ANy help?
