i'm building a htpc and i've chosen all my hardware except for the blu ray drive and can't seem to pick one.

I'm looking for a blu ray reader capable of reading any of my dvds or cds. No burning required, if I want to burn blu rays i'll get a burner for my (work) desktop. Silent and reliable are my other concerns.

So far i've read good things about lg and bad about liteon though no specific models.

money is not really an issue but i won't overpay for something i don't think its worth it.

    thx

I've got the LG GGC-H20L BD/HD-DVD/ DVD-RW combo drive and it works flawlessly.
    LG is a good choice.

i have no need for hd-dvd and the format is dead anyway.
from what i read the CH08LS10 is a better choice.

i could be wrong and maybe i'm stubborn when i set my mind to something.

    thx for the reply

I know you don't need HD format, I was merely showing you that I have an LG BD product, and that I was able to give a user opinion, as opposed to a Googled one.
You'd already indicated what LG drive you were looking at, and yes my drive is long obsolete.
    Just trying to help!
