i am not an expert on these logs, but it looks like to me the nec is not recoginizing the dvd-r media type you are using.
i know you said you are using panasonic dvd-r but they are made by cmc(see your log for info)
cmc id code is a poor quality media
try changing your media, try using dvd+r
or update your firmware,i am not sure you have latest version or not

    with kind regards hursty

there is your answer then,it will not recoginize the dvd-r you are using.
this does not mean it will not recoginize ANY dvd-r,just the ones that your using

who told you that?if dvd+r works, then use them, there is no real difference.

updating your firmware may allow your nec burner to deal the the panasonic(cmc)disc;s you are using.
just search for the latest firmware version for your burner on the nec websit.make sure you get the EXACT correct version,or you could fry the writer!!

download this link for the dvd identifier,it is useful in determing who made the blank disc's,in case you run into anymore problems.
