HELP ME WITH SOFTMOD!!!!

yea that can help sum it up...neways i am trying to do an UDE softmod through xboxhdm. the tut. i read said i shouldn't need to hotswap for it. but i can't figure out how to do it otherwise. also i tried to hotswap but i couldn't get past the first page on xboxhdm, everytime i booted the disk i would do the hotswap then i would hit "1 UDE" or on occasion "1" or UDE or "2" etc. and i can't get it to load past the title page with the four choices...so once again PLZ HELP I'M BEGGING YOU!!!
