Not sure if I worded the subject correctly but what I'm looking for is an inexpensive receiver to boost my satellite signal to my hdtv to get the best quality picture (such as hd quality or near it without subscribing to hd) Please give guidance on what to buy. I was looking at a SAMSUNG HD DIGITAL RECEIVER DECODER SIR-T351 but not sure if this is what i need
The Samsung will allow you to receive over-the-air HDTV signals for delivery to your HDTV. You need it if your HDTV does not have a built in HD tuner - it is not for satellite signals. The Samsung does not boost or upconvert signals to HD or near-hd quality. If you have satellite then you really have to shell out the bucks and subscribe to HD. I have DirecTV-HD and it's worth the extra expense.
