HELP, NEED TO KNOW HOW TO BURN MOVIES

    I have a (and I,m reading word for word here!) _NEC DVD_ RW ND 3530A
    Packard Bell AMD Sempron pc and I need to know how I can record from my pc downloaded films to a DVD disc! I bought this pc just for that very reason and was assured it was a re-writer for DVD discs. I could only write to a CD on my other pc and you have to use 2 discs for 1 movie so can anybody enlighten me? My kids think I,m a nerd cos I'm the ONLY MUM that can't do it HELP!!!!
